I would love to know the rules - according to me the race should have been null and void - at least from a punting perspective?

I'm pretty sure if they had been placed they would have been called non-runners, as they didn't it is deemed not to have affected anything. I never think that is necessarily true. I don't disagree with you Frodo but sh1t I'd have been p1ssed off!!! lol

Well done (tu)
However I can not believe that the result was allowed to stand - the gates of 3 runners opened early - now who's to say, but some of the jocks could have been expecting the race to be stopped and did not get their mounts 'into the race' over the first 100 or 200 metres - I think it is daylight robbery - the race should have been declared null and void :X
