David Nieuwenhuizen: Star of the Week
In 2004 David made the bold decision to take out his trainer’s licence. He began with just 4 horses at his then Vaal base, but has attracted some prominent owners since and has 21 horses in his Turffontein yard. His star filly, Virgo’s Babe has firmly entrenched the Nieuwenhuizen name into racing after her Grade 2 Nursery success on Champion’s Day and David expects plenty more from the daughter of Malhub during her three-year old campaign.

Horses make trainers, and u need to be lucky. DeKock throws away millions worth every year ,that are not good enough, to be a champion trainer. ask anyone in the know.
but when u have a good one, it takes a good trainer to keep it that way!

?.......good for Davy , he has made the most of the very little that has come his way......the ability to stay in the spotlight is not easy......the ability to perpetuate achievement means that you have to have a supply of above average stock.....look at trainers like the honest and down to earth Patt Lunn who enjoyed the limelight with a horse like Model Man and that was that.....as good as he was in having and doing nothing wrong never was able to see anything like that repeated.....it is not only luck but an ability to try and get a good one without having to break the bank.....Guys like Duncan Howells and now the GVZ set up are finding quality horses before the families are exposed and they seem to have the right assistance pedigree wise because their purchases are for horses that have substance in they way they are mated......(tu).....finding these little gems is not to go for the obvious but to go for the unexposed and the unknown to the hype and have some knowledge and assistance from pedigree peeler......
