On a related topic - the Old Mutual has just completed a massive research programme ( about the 150th! Lol ) on South African attitudes to retirement planning.
The report wryly observes (and I quote) : The most popular planning method is best described as the 'head in the sand' method.
This thinking pretty much extends into most areas....................

Taxpayers in South Africa have paid in excess of ZAR1 billion (US$100 million) to fund the costs of ex-communications minister Dina Pule’s legal defence in three various investigations against her, her successor has revealed...:X

Imo as much as possible should be reclaimed from her - boggles the mind how this was ever allowed to happen

The problem is that there are too many who use state funds for personal abuse.....what scares me is that this has to be authorised and signed off by multiple peoples who all turn a blind eye.....just as guilty....:X
