The treatment of horses is a very fine line and one that trainers sometimes stumble at because of the many people and many horses under their care. It is sometimes difficult to know exactly how many days before or after a race a horse has received legal treatment. This treatment however is not legal on race days. I'm not condoning this practice but trying to give a reason why the good may have been charged?
What I do find interesting is that there are many trainers who have NEVER been charged with ANY wrongdoing. Those are the guys who deserve more chances and deserve more horses. Those are the trainers who look after their horses first and run their stables professionally. There are stables out there that have never been accused........
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and there are two distinct sides here and I cannot argue with either side really.
If you want to accuse an institution or a person of malice on an open forum you should give proof. not to us, we don't matter but to the relevant authorities.
So both james and soodum don't bother us with the juicy bits anymore even though we would love to know, just head on over to the proper authorities and HOPE (I stress hope because the authorities are less than stellar) that they can solve your dilemma.
Enough poop flinging boys, this is not the place.
Go meet for coffee and sort out your problems face to face.

we should be wanting to stamp out corruption and now you get a little resistance
you will always find a chirp who feel he needs to give his 1 cent worth
So now your original point is long forgotten

James has the horse at heart all the time and is not afraid to say it. The NHRA do know that steroids are being abused and hopefully they will act on it soon. A top Vet that I know well has said that the best way is to ban all steroids from Vets cars and they can only be administered by the NHRA vet in special cases when it is really needed. A great idea I think and then there must be ZERO tolerance for anyone found with or using steroids.

As I have said before under the current NHRA rules drip feeding your race horse anabolic steroids is allowed. Is it fair to the horse? It is not and I have always advocated they should be banned so as to stop this abuse. Proof is on any vet account that has a conditioner given to your horse on it.

The NHA don't have a clue........everything from this completely mindless raising of MR's to a list of their own rules that are not regulated.
They don't regulate anything unless their paymasters approve!!
....................and urgency is a word that doesn't exist so "act on it soon" is extremely unlikely!

Trainers are specialists. They are entrusted with the public's property. If they want to treat a sick horse, they should make the effort to obtain an opinion from a vet as to how long the drugs will be prsent in the blood system. They should also make sure the horse does not compete while there is ANY chance that he may face an enquiry.
It is as easy as that (IMHO)
