TH, surely there must be some semblance of truth in the "scam letter". I no economist and don't follow the markets, but what the Americans are doing is just kicking the problem (the debt) further down the road. I liken it to being in debt with one credit card, then taking out a second with a bigger credit limit to pay off the first, and then having a third to pay off one and two - but never really getting out of the rut. At some point the debt has to exceed the income, and then what? 16 or 17 trillion Dollars debt must be scary. There is a saying, when America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold - look what happened in 2008, every country, bar China, is still trying to recover from the knock-on effect.

My very uneducated opinion, I hope you right and it's just a scam letter.

Bayern, according tot he American constitution the debt is the first thing that has to be paid so America is not going to forfeit on their debt commitments.
America is still by far en large the biggest single economy on the face of the planet in GDP.

All this posturing is a bunch of politicians fighting for power....nothing more.

I would be more worried about the fact that south Africa is as high as 29th on the list of countries and their GDP's......

Where is all that money going to????????????
