Here's a quick example. This is not dreamland,it's the reality of what's going on in the real world.PGE needs to decide whether it really wants it's local customers to stay in their game or would prefer to just let them go elsewhere.Like maybe to a bookmakers online site for example.

Get up to 17% cash back on your Horse Racing and Greyhound Off-Track Betting
OFF TRACK BETTING is an online horse betting ADW committed to horseplayers. Every successful horseplayer that we know is playing with a rebate, and you should be too.

A rebate is a cash reward paid on every wager you make, win or lose. The amount of the reward will vary by track and by bet type. OTB understands that handle is the one thing that drives this industry, and that handle is generated by its customers, the horseplayers. By delivering daily rebates, OTB hopes to create an increase in handle leading to more revenue for race tracks, and more money that can be distributed back to horsemen in the form of purses. In addition, by matching and surpassing current average rebate amounts offered by offshore racebooks, OTB ensures that money will go directly into the U.S. pari-mutuel pools, where it belongs.

Off Track Betting believes that we have established a very generous horse racing betting rebate program. The more you wager, the more you make. All horse racing betting cash rebates are placed into your OTB accounts the very next morning.

Off Track Betting is committed to offer the best online and phone betting horse wagering in the industry for the mutual benefit of the racetracks, horsemen and horseplayers by creating and expanding handle that would otherwise be minimal or non-existent. Bets placed through Off Track Betting, via our online horse betting system or via phone betting, are sent instantly to the racetrack pools through the state of the art AmTote totalisator hub system.

If you are not getting a horse betting rebate where you are wagering now, or if you think your rebates could be higher, please open a free Off Track Betting account today!

Hi Craig, just a simple request, which Graeme Hawkins has previously promissed to look in to but has not remedied, please ask him/GC why the false rail setting is not published in the officcial race card, The ComputaForm? It seems to be a secret until race day or just before, why?

Why is it not included in every race form available when the fields are published?

You're confusing opposition to the open bet with support of a Tote monopoly. They are two completely different things and someone against the one is not necessarily for the other.

My dear fellow clanners, let us use this opportunity, thanks Craig, with optimism!!!! Please! Let us look at this as a fresh opportunity and approach it with the belief that it will encourage and bring about changes.

What I suggest is that rather than PM Craig, you post your three thoughts here, it is quite likely others will mention things important that you would rather have in your top 3, that you have not thought of/forgotten etc. The top 10 can then be established, though personally I think 10 might be too many as a start?

I don't think we should comment on the ideas of others, just add them into your own list. I am also interested to see how many clanners can actually be bothered to do this.

Anyway, here's my three, being me they come from a punting/transparency angle...

1. Get the going, false rail etc data "published" two days prior to each meeting for all tracks and update as conditions change. This includes "sand" meetings, I simply refuse to believe that a sand track always runs as "standard" (if that were true, how come horses come back from the back some meetings and not others, there has to be in a difference in the conditions).

2. Set up a "forum" to show when jockeys and trainers have been questioned by the stipes as to a particular ride or horse's performance on any given day including inconsistency in performance or, in the case of the trainer, any other issues. Set up "tables" to show how many times individuals have been questioned and the result... innocent, warning, guilty or whatever. Reports of each "interview" to be made public within two days of the meeting finishing with a brief summary of the enquiry (the question, response and conclusion).

3. Set up a "forum" where all trainers must issue their brief thoughts on all their runners on a particular card by 10am on the morning of a meeting... no more required than the Shams do currently.

The fact that a court saw fit to declare the open bet legit does not make it right..it is a scourge to racing and is in fact Licensed Fraud simply an abuse of a grey area as were the penny ha'penny Casinos back in the day....no matter which way its looked at.
Give everything but up!

If the establishment believe that it is the biggest drawback to racing holding on to a moral philosophy is pointless.
They tried the big stick ..........it got taken away and they got beaten with it (they couldn't convince a court that a pool type bet was NOT a fixed- price product-you figure)
Dwelling on the past is pathetic...........a new strategy is required .........but they seem to be at a loss to come up with one..........overseas operators have given them a clue!!

Instead of P throwing their toys out of the cot because their monopoly is threatened, accept the reality of competition and start fighting back for the punters spend. Their childish vindictiveness against bookies just show that those in charge are completely out of their depth

How many owners, would get out the game if they couldnae have a bet with a bookie?

How many punters would get out the game if they couldnae choose where they wanted to bet?

PUNTERS HAVE cash and love spending it!!!
