Back for another go - 3 or 4 races looking not too tough, but the other 5 or 6 may need the services of that pin (or lucky charm - if you are 'lucky' enough to have one):
R1: Son of Approval has strong form - draw a concern though (even coming into 9 not ideal); Arabian Approval put up a good sand effort when a few lengths behind SoA, betterr drawn, better off at the weights courtesy of Maleking - not bad value imo; Majestic Stride improved big time on the turf on the weekend - goes from pole position and could be there again if he takes to the sand; for me I think Sirocco Bay may find this too short - but getting used to that yellow stuff by now
R2: Uncle Tommy to win; 2nd to be fought out by The Mouseketeer and Accross the Ice
R3: Guessing game - Felan best over the 1000 and has as good a chance as any to place; both Erasmus runners obviously need consideration; Autodrome may improve on the sand (or not), the two first timers Chataigne and Right Site do not have to be super stars to feature
R4: Another puzzle - Shirla at least has proved that she runs well here; form very weak though, but could be good enough for the PA at least; Asiatic Pearl was 1.5 lengths behind S in Dec over 1800 here, so can also feature; Cristal Arrow ran a fair debut over 1000 at this track, so is another to consider; then we have the sand first imers Run the Arrow, The Best Way and See Through, any of whom could prefer the sand (or not)
R5: Tough handicap - Don Vito has placed on the surface and has run a fair race over 1700 on the turf last time - blinkers get removed though, so anything possible; not a lot between Terrible Gulch, Dublin Dude and Shadow Mode on their last efforts behind Flaming Forge; Silver Specialist imo prefers dry conditions, which he should could get today, so not to be ignored (break a leg, Elvis) and then we have Vino Nero who tries the sand after an upset victory on Tuesday night - must have a chance again if he takes to the sand
R6: Formation and Jackodore to fight this out and any could win it imo - so J the better value
R7: Back to the handicaps, but this does look an easier race (especially after the scratching of Principled); Tora Tora has obvious claims, but Lesley Strong is better off at the weights with TT after running 1.35 lengths behind him in Dec; very chuffed that I got some 14/1 this morning when the books were still sleeping; Hallowed won well last time over this trip, so is sure to give plenty of cheek again; I think one of the 3 will win, but for places one has to consider the chances of Angel of Gabriel, Fall of Troy, Shepherd's Song and even Passion Pleaser who has the benefit of pole position
R8: Another open handicap, where it looks like Winter Var or anything; The Professor has run a fair 4th over this trip, so should be competitive (draw?) and for a roughie I like the chances of LG's Black Pepper, but really anything could happen should WV fail
R9: Probably the toughest race on the card - Spanish Lily was fair value imo at around 10/1, but PA and P6 players lucky enough to get to the last leg, would need plenty numbers here
Enjoy (tu)
