Thanks for your response as regards your werver problems. May I respectfully suggest that one of your business analysts conducts a business impact analysis on your I.T. systems. This will help senior management understand what financial losses are incurred for each outage. Based on this report it should be possible to obtain finance to put in infrastructure to mitigate the risk. I would imagine that clustered servers would be a bare minimum, but probably applications which can run in a highly availabe architecture would greatly enhance performance and availability. I am sure that your ROI would exceed the expenditure within 12 months.
