He was the guest of honour at the Academy prize giving day a few years ago and gave a very inspiring speech based around exactly what you speak of. That day I really saw him in a whole new light and realised that he was a highly dedicated professional sportsman, rather than the view we normally have of jockeys as people who just through the routine of riding work and races.

There was a time that racing had huge covering in the newspapers,especially the Cape Argus
A huge full page story i kept for years,[like today's S/Post Star of the week]
I think Mr Millard it was that said "he was just a brick and a ticky high"
Even then he said he'll be a Champion

I called Felix last year to ask if he would consider donating something of his to our Charity Auction...
His first words were " why would someone want that"
So unassuming , he so kindly donated a saddle to us which is going into the TBA museum.
The ABSOLUTE best !!
