I love your passion blueyonder001, he is undeniably a very good horse but I think what the clanners are saying is that the price is a little short. you are 100% correct in saying that he has done absolutely nothing wrong. That said it's very seldom we see a horse win 4/4 in South Africa, secondly he hasn't beaten much when considering this field, only one horse PLATINUM JET by 2.2 lengths. Poor old Mienie has been bumped aside after winning 3/3 and put on what I believe is better suited to win AS YOU LIKE who almost won 4/4 races and has also done very little wrong and he's 14/1. TEE JAY AR finished his last race well and I think he'll be competitive in this field.

More prospective... AS YOU LIKE beat LANCE really nicely over the 1600m and LANCE has to find more than a length on that run at level weights to reverse the form, FOREST INDIGO who's 2.50 kg's worse off on his last run cannot possibly beat LANCE who should finish more than two lengths in front of FOREST INDIGO so AS YOU LIKE a HUGE runner here, that's how I derived at some value @ 14/1 and not just pulling it out my... TJR still the one for me and some swingers with AYL my play in the 8th (tu)

I agree with your reasoning - but it could be argued that Lance was bumped in that race behind As You Like, so might have finished closer or even in front of AYL - for me I can't really make up my mind between As You Like and Bouclette Top - I think lots will depend on the going on the day and the way the course runs - lots of thunder showers around, so I think at this stage I'm leaning towards Bouclette Top - will be coming off them, where As You Like will probably be handy. Not much between TJR and Bellini - imo (and the handicapper's) they still have some improving to do to be competitive here.

Frodo, I am also leaning towards Bouclette Top, reason being, I think the pace will be hot on from the get-go and the horses drawn wide will be in with a shout at the finish. There appears to be many horses that prefer to go handy, Forest Indigo (of late), Mister Cricket (the absolute unknown, stiffest test to date and I agree with Mac, no value at 22/10), Taarish, As You Like It, Mr. Mulliner and Lance, to name a few. They could end up cutting each others throats and someone coming from off the pace could run them down. I also think Lance will reverse the placing with Forest Indigo and As You Like It, he is a smart horse, however I think 1400/1450 is his game at this stage of his career because of his style of running - still rates a big threat in my book. Another that could benefit from a good pace is Louis The King.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
