Amla won't do it...respected as a player but not as a captain...saw the off match when he captained and too many others were keen to give their input rather than let him make decisions...
And no way can it be de Villiers...too much on his plate and already looking burdened during this series...
Glad to see the end of the Smith, Boucher, Kallis influence in team...was a clique that expanded with more WP players / coaches and that cannot be good for the cricket in a country as diverse as SA...

get KP to break all his ties with England, hand back his British Passport, get an EU one instead and play and captain SA for 3 years. Cant go wrong there

Won't be missed, enough replacements coming through in the form of de Kock, Miller, Faf............

Has done very well as captain, well out of form which means he would not be picked for team unless he was the captain, right thing to do! Well done!

On the other hand one could look at it that he retired whilst SA still No 1 in the world probably 24 hrs before they drop to No 2

they will stay at number 1 no matter what happens tomorrow as they have enough points to keep them there for the moment

Could play for SA against Smith for Ireland. Like Rankin for Ireland getting out Boyce for England, 4 years later it was Rankin for England getting out Boyce for Ireland.

I've still not figured that one out...maybe to escape those from Overport that claimed him as their own when he was born and grew up in La Mercy / Tongaat...he did his primary schooling there and played club cricket there when in early teens...went to DHS to gain more exposure that he wouldn't have got had he stayed at Victoria Primary School / Tongaat Secondary School...
Great player now and thrilled to see the success he has had...there were 1 or 2 others better than him that never escaped Tongaat to get the exposure their ability deserved...or the coaching that would have seen them attain similar / greater heights...
