Unfortunately had to scratch Be Fabulous (sore foot) today. She would have been hard to beat race 4.
Race 5 have Blarney Bay and Call of the Hunt in a very competitive handicap. Both have e/w chances. CotH takes on the boys, but has come on nicely in her work and worth including in exotics at a big price. Blarney having his first run for Mike Robinson, has a good draw and has impressed in work. Serious runner here.
After looking likely to be the only meeting, Durbanville now competing with both other centres, so pools will be under pressure.
Race 1 looks a match race between Olympian and Pigeon Flyer. The latter may have a bit more scope for improvement so a marginal preference. Lithuanian has had little opportunity as a sire, but Lietuva put up a fair debut and with the expected improvement could be in the money.
Race 2 Destiny Driven ought to win this from a good draw. Gifford looks the only danger.
Race 3. The scratching of the favourite opens this up. There is not much between Naval Intelligence and Roventas but the latter finally gets a reasonable draw so is preferred. Dragstone has to overcome a bad draw, but can place. Moon Shot obviously has his problems, but if he is fit enough, has the ability to surprise.
Race 4 looks a match between Stride Out and Bandana Girl. SO preferred from good draw.
Race 6: very tricky race with potential for a big upset. If he copes with the 1200m and does not lose too much ground at the start, Prince of Pananea could keep on the winning trail.
Race 7 another tricky contest. Apprentice Carstens is not scared to use his weight advantage by going handy, and on a couple of occasions has been allowed to get away. The top weights might struggle to catch him on Private Doowaley if he judges it right.
Race 8 it doesn't get any easier in the last, a very competitive fillies and mares handicap. Litethenite has been running well over shorter from bad draws. She gets the trip, has a nice draw and a 2.5kg claimer, so looks a value bet here.
