no track should be closed ....not vaal and not kimberley.....anybody screaming close close is just a gambler not knowing farkal about racing and the purpose of certain tracks and surely farkal about sustainable bussiness.

Correct Ziets. Our Gauteng Summer programme runs from Oct to end April. During these 7 months, we have 88 meetings. 43 at Turff and 45 at Vaal. Sell Vaal and halve the meetings? We all know that the Turffontein tracks are under sever duress to handle the 43 meetings as it is, so they cannot accommodate more.

All Training establishments are subsidised, Vaal by far the lowest. Vaal Turf is probably the best around. Sell? Whats it worth if sold? Replacement cost R300 M.....

Ziets, you are not reading the detail and it's not the punters closing the tracks it's the operators based on business requirements ( in their opinion )
It's their business and they must make the call ( whether the punter thinks its wrong or right for the good of racing is irrelevant )

PE had to have a 2nd racing course before they could close Arlington. (not that we wanted that!)

Polytrack made the best sense as Fairview ground doesn't handle water well

Probably long since distributed as dividends to shareholders...like the groom's accommodation grant money was possibly subsumed within reserves ???

Can anyone shed some light ???

Thanks
