A few points
a) the track was soggy making it difficult for any runners behind to gain ground, also the kick back would prove intolerable for the horses behind.
B)his feel was he could possibly have won the race had his horse been given the opportunity instead of being hampered by the slower front runners
c)we are not the ones that have to answer to disgruntled trainers and owners as to why a perfectly prepped and capable horse couldn't produce the run they had expected.

I can say with absolute certainty that i do not want/endeavour nor need to post anything in order to win favor with ANYBODY, in fact a vast majority of my posts are met with disdain and responded to with contempt but will remain my opinion as was the case with my earlier post, that was and remains my view on the subject and the point i was trying to make is that there is a lot of double standards that seem to be conveniently overlooked from one thread to the next.

You are right Rob, I don't have concrete facts to base my irritation on. Here is what I base it on.
1) My eyes - i watched the race twice to see if I could see something malicious done by Zechner. I couldn't
2) Titch's comments yesterday about why Pierre was upset.
3) SpookE (Pierre's wife) comments when pushed about Pierre's performance.
So I don't have it from the horse's mouth so to speak but I'm going to trust my judgement here and make the call.
Oh, and btw, i express doubt because of the rebuttals I received about Pierre's riding ability, not doubt about what I felt was bad behaviour by him. You guys seemed to use the thread tot ell all and sundry what a great jock Pierre is. I was never doubting that, I was merely making a point about his behaviour on Saturday.
I have said my piece and am now moving on

I think it is perhaps a case of a mountain being made of a molehill - yes Striker's behavior has not been what it should (my opinion) - I refer to the incident on Saturday, as well as that 'incident' between him and Gav Lerena a couple of months back. Striker seems to get very upset (triggered by his competitiveness, I imagine) when things don't turn out the way he wanted (or envisaged) and then looks to take out his frustrations on those that (in his mind) are responsible for things not turning out the way he thought they would.
Is this behavior to be condoned - certainly not. But does it mean that he has 'no place riding a horse' - I would think not - it just makes him human.

he is still the best around .....and a great personality to top his ability....
after the last race on saturday i went to het our colours in jockey room.... 2 appies and a useless jockey walked past....i greeted all 3....only one gave me a quick "hallo" as if it was an effort greeting me. Then i walk out and striker was outside. I said "hi" and he came over and shake my hand like a real man and being very friendly .
big ups again to the jockey i admire and have atmost respect for.

I along with other syndicate members have had Striker ride our horse in most of its races , that in itself is a privelage as i am sure he can pick and choose his mounts . We have on occassion as a group expected a decent run and this did not materialise and waiting for him in the unsaddeling enclosure were very unhappy people who gave him a bit of a hard time and to his credit he gave good feedback and even had the humour to offer to reverse the role on a lady who threatened to use his riding crop on him. All great sportsman feel more pressure to compete and that is why they are where the are and whatever one opinion of him is he has proven himself to be one of south africas greats
