I see they have also now discontinued the certain open bet types on the Australian racing. I am quite disappointed as I quite a regular punter. Some communication before hand would have been appreciated

Hi Smashley, unfortunately due to the pool sizes shrinking with regards to Tellytrack removing the international feed, laying the open bet on the Australian racing is not viable for both us and you the punter. You are right, we should have made an announcement, and I will do so now. However, Hollywood is in the process of where we will be offering this betting in due course. We will make a sperate announcement with regards to this too.

Dev so the open win and place no limits will it apply in SA racing ? Also French racing will it have no limits has the pools are over 500k and UK racing generally the pools reach over 60k to 100k ? Do you have like a pool size before limits will start to apply ? Thanks for assisting in all our enquiries.

Hi Oscar, when it comes to yankees, the stake placed can be misconstrued because of how big the payout is.
For example, if someone wants a yankee with R50 per leg (R550 for the whole yankee bet), depending on what prices the horses are, the total payout of all these bets coming through could total between R400k to R500k. Therefore, to protect our liabilities, we tell the client that they can have a bet at a reduced stake, so that the payout is only R100k or our set limits (which means the stake could be R10 or R20 per bet). If we can lay more, we will. If we need to reduce the prices of the horses so the customer can have more we will do so too.
Therefore the limit is placed on the payout, not the stake. We need to reduce the stake so we don't go over our limits. If you throw in horses that are 16/1 or 25/1, this increases the payout massively, meaning the stake could be a lot smaller.

Hi Naresh, our limits with regards to open bets remain as follows for all racing:
Payout Limits (Tote, Exotic, SP, All On and Yankee type bets)
Payout limits apply to Win, Place, Swinger, Exacta, Trifecta, Quartet, Double, Place Accumulator, Jackpot, Pick 3, Bipot, Pick 6, Soccer Special, Starting Price, All-to-Come and Yankee type bets. Payouts will be limited to the lesser of R500 000 ticket limit or 500 000/1 odds limit except for the Pick 6 which shall be limited to the lesser of R1 000 000 ticket limit or 1 000 000/1 odds
Examples:
· If Hollywood lays a Jackpot that pays R630 000 to a R1 unit and a customer (syndicate of customers or any group of people acting in conjunction with each other as may be determined by Hollywood in its sole discretion) catches it once (100%), the R500 000 ticket limit will apply – dividend paid = R500 000.
· If Hollywood lays a customer (syndicate of customers or any group of people acting in conjunction with each other as may be determined by Hollywood in its sole discretion) tickets totaling 20% of a Pick 6 that pays R1 400 000 to a R1 unit, the R1 000 000/1 odds limit will apply. Payout will be 20% of R1 000 000 – dividend paid = R200 000.
If we do implement limits we will specify them seperately, and make an announcement.
Then just to follow up with regards to the international French and UK Racing question:
Winning limits shall also apply to Win, Place, Swinger, Exacta, Trifecta, Quartet, Double, Place Accumulator, Jackpot, Pick 3, Bipot, Pick 6, Rugby Special and Soccer Special. The maximum winnings in respect thereof will be limited to THE TOTAL NET POOL LIMIT of the local SAFTOTE pool.
By way of example, if the total available pool on an Exacta is R2500, then this is maximum payout that may be distributed to a customer (syndicate of customers or any group of people acting in conjunction with each other as may be determined by Hollywood in its sole discretion)who has selected the winning combination/s regardless of the stakes or the number of tickets. If Hollywood laid 1000 winning Exactas to a customer (syndicate of customers or any group of people acting in conjunction with each other as may be determined by Hollywood in its sole discretion) and the Saftote dividend was R 3.50, Hollywood would limit the payout to pay the Pool Limit of R2500.
Should anything change in the near future, we will make announcements with regards to this.

Dev what I implied will open wins and places apply to SA, UK and French racing whereby you cannot get more than 50% of the fixed price ? If so what must the pool be less than for this to occur ?

Irrespective of pool sizes, if we can see that there has been pool manipulation (which mainly occurs with small pools) then we will apply that rule. It's unlikely that it will happen when there are big pools, but we have seen it happen before with races in South Africa, UK, France etc.. This rule will be implemented at Hollywood's discretion.

dev using your example of the exacta bet....its precisely the argument i had with marshalls....if i took the exacta a 1000 times and the saftote pool is 2500....why should my payout dividend be 2500.00.....what happened to the 1000 stake and all the losing exacta bets that you held for that particular event...should it not at least be added to the pool...and by the way...what reason do youll have paying only on the net pool.....you guys offerring the open bet...should be paying on the gross pool
