With the pen at 32 I'll be very interested to see what happens tomorrow. I have studied for the turf and if it is switched to the Poly then imho it becomes a totally different prospect. Not just the draw but it is starting to become apparent, as with all tracks, that some horses have a preference. If they switch I will almost certainly not have time to study again and so my money will stay in my pocket. I wonder how many other punters are the same and how much the industry loses by doing such a late switch? Surely most punters work and so if a meeting is switched then they have no time to re-study. I think everyone commends the building of the Poly and it is obviously great that it enables a meeting to proceed. I am also sure there are pros and cons of doing what I am about to suggest but, in fairness to everyone and particularly the punters, I don't think it would be a bad idea to have a ruling that turf meetings are switched to the Poly, say at 5pm, the day before if the pen reading has hit 30, or lower but further rain predicted. That way everyone knows what will be happening and can prepare accordingly. I really don't have time to waste studying for a meeting which doesn't happen, if I knew already it was to be switched then I would have simply studied for the Poly. Obviously, it won't cover every eventuality, like heavy rain overnight or in the morning etc but it would seem a sensible move to me. Anyway... if they run on the turf...

Runners today:
Race3: Silken Cat: Has been very disappointing in Gauteng. Bred for a trip. Needs vast improvement.
Aspen Winter looks the right one if they run on turf.
Race 9: Do you Dance. Ignore last run- jockey could not restrain her and she over- raced and fell away after going much too fast. If she settles as in penultimate run, is each way value at 20/1. Good draw, and equally at home on either surface. Include in Pick 6.
Liwa looks the one to beat, also well drawn and goes both surfaces. Marionette and Majestic Beauty likewise.

If there is the remotest chance of not finishing on turf , the decision should be a slam dunk. They also have the option of moving "some" races to Poly-we have had meetings scheduled over both courses in the past, anyway!!!!

Clowns !! This decision should have been made at the latest 7.30am. The show must go on and once again PE racing show they have no clue how to look after the customer.

FFS , how difficult can it be to decide whether a surface is "raceable",.....they seem to do it a damn side quicker when the jocks object!

They still deliberating. Greeff, Paddock, Smith and the course manager voted to move to the Polytrack. Out of town trainers up in arms about running the features on the Poly. The circus continues.
