Groom's Dress Code
11 years 1 month ago
Just switched the tele on and I am shocked to see how the grooms are dressed. Surely the trainers could have a little pride and ensure that the grooms at least wear a clean or new overall. Its a disgrace. P should implement a dress code to all entering the parade ring.
Snaith Racing should be commeneded in this regard. Even if it is minor meeting, they maintain a standard.

Here is an idea to any corporate client or any company that has national footprint. Buy new overalls and brand this. The grooms wear this for the day, they return it, send for dry cleaning and then use again. Buy all sizes.
Marketing is crucial and viewers via Tellycrap or on course.
Hint to Vodacom, Cell C , Mtn or Ocean Basket, Kfc etc

This wont work as they already earn so little
The trainers should provide this for the grooms as this should be covered by training fees paid by owners
In a average to big stable - 1 groom to 2 or 3 horses so it would be better for the grooms to have "Stable Branded" overalls
I see TEAM G grooms have red overalls with the TEAM G emblem
Its only a suggestion

Brett Crawford is another who makes a huge effort to make sure his grooms look neat and tidy on race days and they are very distinctive in their tartan waistcoats and flat caps.

I think the grooms should be left alone.
1st thedress code, then the fact that they are camera shy. Lads, why not just let them be?
There is more2 life than dressing smart 4 the TV n 4us to see them dressed up well. Maybe we needa see em dressedup well2 mk us feel less shit 4 blowing away thousands that we do, yet some people cant even afford decent attire.
Maybe the grooms wear what they are comfy in? After all they are looking after thehorses and I wouldn't wna wear my suit n tie if I ws doing ttheir job.

I agree with you but it will give a positive image about a stable if the grooms look neat, but the grooms should not pay for it
If the trainer show a little bit initiative he can get some of the owners to sponsor a jacket with the owner(s) business logo/name on and a pair of jeans and nice shoes/tekkies it doesn't cost so much.
I did that for my stable when I was still an owner and people were talking how well dressed our grooms look

If Tienie Prinsloo can provide overalls for his grooms, then there should be no excuse. Afterall Kimberly is the smallest centre in prize money

Phum should purchase a few sets of standard issue attire with their Logo on or get a sponsor(TBA surely) and issue grooms on race day. Trainers that don't have their own "proper" kit pay a deposit and this gets returned after clothes are returned that day.
