If you read the entire press release by Keeneland, they were very happy with the polytrack as a surface per se.The problem is that horses in the US have traditionally always been grass or dirt horses so they couldn't get the top horses to target polytrack feature races as it was neither one nor the other and they needed to revert to dirt for their features to regain status.

Not about what work and the way horses work .......it is a conditions dilemma.....the wax binding has a viscosity based on melt temp and moisture content......variables that can change very fast depending on weather and temperature.......one needs a guru with an affinity and powers of observation that is in touch of these requirements and can like a technical groundsman make decissions on how to combat situations out of normal parameters.......sadly this knowledge and skill set is not yet developed locally and these track conditions will remain largely a hit and miss affair......:S

Its the 600m mentality in this country with the exception of MDK , I think it would be too taxing on most SA trainers to actually work their horses further or maybe they just ????
