The reason it's moved is because May 7th is my birthday and I'll be at the pub and not spending my allotted R60 for the day at the tote. They have had to shut racing down for the day. Apologies

Do the operators or bookies have tote facilities for the punters to have a punt on the election result when they are standing in the queue ?
Is that thinking out the box B)

TN e fixtures and dates are worked out about a year in advance so that the programmers can do there job. The ANC should have checked that we were not racing!;):D

I heard a rather disturbing comment made over this past weekend. GC would rather abandon race meetings cause it is loosing money on most race meetings. Costs higher than income on the "run of the mill" race meetings.
Are we heading then for amalgamation of GC and P ?

Weigh up the interests at stake: 40 or so (could be more) people cannot vote, so destroy 10 000 peoples fun.

Our local petrol stations have told their lowest paid employees to vote after their shifts. Business has to go on. They wll probably get double pay for working on a public holiday, so why not work and vote?

Would love to see the stats on how many of these grooms and other employees actually go and vote

But just my personal view

Look at the constitution. There was a guy in Durban who needed to be treated on a dialisys machine for kidney problems. He went to the constitutional court to force the state hospital to provide the treatment free of charge in terms of the constitution. The court ruled that the treatment was too expensive for hte government and he was denied treatment. So the individual had to face death because the government could not spend some of our taxes to help him stay alive.

There is no fairness in these situatioins. Happy voting everyone

jeepers cant you okes go one day without having a punt on SA racing? It will be good to recharge your batteries and if you have a dog or a cat or even a lion, then take it out for a long walk on that day as it will do both of you the world of good. You wont be losing any money and the dog wont get the blame for you losing that money.::o
