Imo CA and Leg will need to startt now to beat Louis the King. That cape form is suspect they keep beating eachuda, even if u look at powerking n dynastic power. Louis the king has proved he is the best head over sholders in his region and imo, is the best in SA. U can't win 3races over 1600m,1800m and 2450m over that space in tym and not be something special. Igugu didn't beat anything in her triple tiara and walsed in July time. Imo Louis will make em run Daily Newss 2000 and July

Shrek, I would like to see the relatively untried Rake's Chestnut thrown into the mix. Thought he's come-back run against the older horses was really good considering how badly out at the weights he was being a one time winner. He is a July nominee and may have to win something like the Daily News if they are harbouring any thoughts of qualifying for the July. LTK on the other hand could be an automatic runner in the July and they may not give him a hard run leading up to the July considering the schedule he has just completed. Likewise Legislate, is he not a shoe-in, in the final July field having won the Cape Derby? Getting back to RC, there was a lot of money and hype because of how the gelding improved this horse coupled with the stable's opinion of him, let's see if the rumours are well founded.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Bayern, I recon the Daily News could be one of the better races on the year. There are quite a few unexposed 3 year olds that have a hype about them. LTK and Legislate have already qualified for the July and have a 109 rating so if a horse like Rakes Chestnut beats them in the Daily News they will jump to I would imagine a 110 plus. A bit of a double edged sword as he would probably need to win or at worst run second or third to qualify for the July with the smaller field.

The same could be said for the Rising Sun Gold Challenge, if we see Yorker, CTN and Beach Beauty. With Yorker now having a high 118 rating if CTN or Beach Beauty beat him they will carry plenty more in the July, if they opt to go that route.

Should be a very interesting couple of months racing. Really looking forward to them. (tu)

Legislate won well but Bezenova (rated 92) got ahead of Captain America who ran well below par who was three + lengths ahead of Top Jet (rated 85)...so with Bezenova and Top Jet the line horses, Legislate ran to about a 98-100 (Bezenova 92 + 3 lengths...or Top Jet 85 + 6,5 lengths...+ a small margin for easy of victory)...so, in my mind, he is no way a 109 and equal to Louis the King and winner of Daily News won't get rating above the current 109 for top 3 year old...

Using Bezenova, Louis the King ran to about 100-102 in Classic...don't know how much more he improved for Derby...there could have been another line horse for the Classic though the top 3-4 were on top of each other...

So, I'd be sceptical about the 3 year olds as I think they are too high in MR...

Was very impressed by Yorker...seems to have turned into a bull of a horse...others looked like midgets when compared to him...could yet defy top weight...

the Gauteng 3yr olds are consistent (tripple crown results) and it looks like the Cape ones are too if you take their Derby as a line and that has always been my test for a good crop.

i dont think ltk will beat legislate because he beat ordinary horses in his races in jhb.i think legislate will turn out to be a superstar.i see the owners from uk have sold shares in the horse to g rupert so that to me means he will stay in rsa and once he has conquered kzn season he can embark on an overseas campaign.just my opinion and who knows, i could be wrong.

Ltk probably best among an average crop of 3 yo jhb horses but will be found out when facing the Cape horses. Legislate , judged by the quality of his wins, to me is a stand out horse.

Imo the lines through Bezanova does not justify a statement like 'LtK beat ordinary horses' in Gauteng - Bezanova being one of those 'ordinary horses' was not beaten that far by Legislate (and I still believe Bezanova is not at best over a tight track like Greyville); having said that if I had to choose between the 2 now, I think Legislate is the logical choice, simply because LtK may not campaign in KZN
