In My Secret Life back on the sand re-euipped with blinkers, nicely draw which should help as she likes to race handy.... would be my Eway selection for today.

I'm still trying to figure out whether it's sand or turf lol
LMAO :D
1) This post says Vaal not Vaal Sand
2) Computaform says Vaal Sand but then their top 10 jockeys and Trainers for the venue it prints Vaal turf ISO sand :S
3) Formgrids says it's Turf since no mention of sand anymore just "Vaal"
4) Sportingpost say Vaal Sand

No wonder they call it "gambling" >:D<

Interesting day's racing, not easy bar possibly the 2nd and the 5th:

R1: Potential banana peel in the first leg of the BP as none of the runners has raced on the surface yet; on exposed turf form, Missmasala the form choice, but odds-on much too short imo for a filly that has not raced on the sand; Double Ridge tries the blinkers and could improve on the sand (being by Tiger Ridge) and Black Oleander is a half sister to Dirty Champagne and Itsgottobeperfect who have both won over 1200 - may need further though being by Black Minnaloushe; not a lot between Bad Dream, Lady Liberty, and Lavender Girl, but not one those has a pedigree that points to them taking to the sand - perhaps for interest a small each-way on Double Ridge the way to go.

R2: I think Battle of Alma could get it right today - has run well at this track over the 1000 and does not face the strongest competition; Jimmy Jagga on a line through Royal Stock, could trouble BoA, but lack of a recent run could favor BoA; the juvenile Carter finished behind Wild Thing on the turf last time; could perhaps turn the tables on the sand, but WT is held by BoA on their last meeting on the sand - nothing else appeals on exposed form so for I think Battle of Alma is fair value at around 7/2

R3: Bit of a minefield imo; Cherry Breeze has shortened in the betting, but finished more than 4 lengths behind Truly Yours and 3 lengths behind Subshaawes when CB was making his sand debut 2 weeks ago - could improve, but for me I'd rather be taking the 14/1 about Truly Yours; Subshaawes should also improve, but has the added disadvantage of a wide draw; Imperial King tries blinkers and makes his sand debut - at least has the benefit of a good draw, so can't be ignored and neither can Munaaseb - finished just behind Down Mexico Way, who won next time out, beating Amour de la Bonte and Ngiyashisa, who have both won since. The Sanquharian has fair recent from, but is having his 20th start and with Big Nick and the sand debutante Long Shot could be considered for 'larger perms'.

R4: Another race where finding the winner could prove a challenge; the juvenile Red Please did finish in front of some of these (Mayan Destiny and Merlins Gem) when 2nd (but beaten almost 20 lengths) behind Lady Casey (who ran a fair post maiden after that); so is probably the right one; all of Cool Fantasy, Dawn Day and the other juvenile Mayfleur come with fair turf form and any of these could just take a liking to the sand and win this.

R5: Silent Force impressed when beating top sand mare Formation easily by 4 lengths last time (although in receipt of 7.5 kg's); for me that is good enough too beat these - only possible danger imo is Be Mine Tonight, but I think she will be 2nd best here.

R6: Competitive fillies and mares sprint handicap; my first choice and representing some fair value imo is Club Captain; all 5 her wins over this trip, and a good penultimate effort over the trip behind Across the Ice in a Pinnacle Plate; I think if the appie just need to keep her straight and she should be too quick for them; Weekend Special the obvious danger, but over the 1000, she could just be running on too late - not to be ignored though. Spring Blaster seems very capable and comes from an in-form stable, she tries the sand and has shortened in the betting, another not to be ignored imo; also She's a Tiger could feature - best runs have come over this 1000 and has a place chance at least taking into account he penultimate effort when finishing just more than 2 lengths behind Club Captain; others who could upset include Shiver and Shake (seems held by Club Captain though), Classic Traveller (good last turf effort behind Tzigane) and the inconsistent Inventive Girl.

R7: Another tough handicap; Paintyourface has found form, and should be thereabouts again from a good draw; Rockingandrolling not really weighted to beat Paintyourface, but may be improving back to his best; Form Up is only having his 5th start, so plenty of improvement to come and likely to not mind the sand; Winter Mischief has shortened in the betting and could also improve to feature in his first try on the surface; for a real roughie to make the trifecta and quaretet pay, I'd be looking at Siamese Fighter, probably better over shorter, but could be the real joker in the pack looking at his effort behind Duty Dance.

R8: Real nightmare to close; just for interest I'm having a place bet on Olympic Spring - terrible draw, but has the gate speed to overcome it; 2 wins and 3 places over this trip - definite inclusion in the PA as well. For the rest - use a pin or try your lucky number

Enjoy (tu)
