Pirates, that was not name dropping. Anton said that on Tellytrack. Rightly or wrongly you are entitled to your opinion but when it is directed directly at Natal trainers( as in winzip) and is just downright nasty and wrong and could influence owners or future owners to move or buy in other centres then you must back it up and put your name etc there and be counted. Why wont winzip put his name here if he is so confident in his statements? You nearly everyone knows and your completely negative views on GC and Natal trainers is known by most and no one expects you to be positive about them as you never have been and probably will never be. That is just you. We take it from whence it comes. If some one is balanced in his view and praises people when they have done something right then your negative views will hold far more water.

craig read properly I said I have an imagino line and it so happens that a lot more natal trainers are below it than Gauteng or the cape so don't try put words in my mouth that I don't rate any natal trainers ..my opinion regarding the restriction of horses of any ratings and also satellite yards will always remain and so will the rest of them.i don't brown nose people craig and if people have a problem with my comments then they are free to contact me regarding them..some idiot wrote on this forum that joe ramsden only gets results because of mr joostes support but I didn't notice anyone shouting him down for those totally pathetic comments..he won 3 cape titles before mr jooste supported him and numerous group races

Now that this thread has developed into a personal slanging match let's re-focus on some facts. And for once I am going to indulge myself in a little bit of 'short termitis' (ie just look at 'right here, right now') as opposed to my earlier thread which takes the long term view.
In a couple of weeks we run the 2014 edition of the Vodacom July. Although we do not yet have the final field a couple of frankly amazing stats are there for all to see.
With the exception of Mr Naidoo & Charles Laird (who is an ex-Jhb trainer) there is NO OTHER local trainer representation.
Let's look at it another way : If the Met or the Summer Cup were run and only two local trainers had runners out of a field of 16 there would be some serious hometown soul searching.
The FACTS suggest that the local training fraternity are serial underachievers. Yet Gold Circle has never seen fit to investigate and evaluate. That's pretty amazing.

So by your theory, Mike De Kock who probably wont have a runner in the July so therefore he must be an under achieving trainer. Give me a break. Maybe ask why Mike, Charles and others relocated their strings to Natal. It is not as though they need the money. The waiting list is not short either.

Craig - If you read BOTH of my posts you will note that I focused primarily on LONG TERM trends in the first post. In that area you and your colleagues have not dominated since the 1970's. That's not my opinion but just cold statistics.
How on earth you manage to drag Mike De Kock's possible (Espumanti?) absence from the race into the equation is beyond me. If you had said 'Any Gauteng trainer' or 'Any Cape Trainer' the statement might have had some merit.
I have no idea why Charles Laird or Mike De Kock relocated strings to Durban. But what does that have to do with the performance of local trainers? Perhaps it just implies that it is a pleasant area in which to race. I have no problem with that at all. Nor have I ever suggested that it wasn't a pleasant place to race.
If there is ANYTHING in my post which is factually untrue or represents a skewed presentation of FACTS and STATISTICS then I apologise unreservedly.

Now that we have the July final field it's interesting to note that the local trainers have NOT ONE representative.
I would be really interested to know if this has ever occurred in a July, Met or Summer Cup before.
I also cannot believe that a Summer Cup or Met without a single local trainer represented would pass with little or no comment.

KwaZulu -Natal season so far(if I can count right after the July!) 11 Group 1's, Natal 5,Cape 5, Jhb 1(Could have been Cape 4,Jhb 2 but for the objection but I think it was the right decision but I really feel for MJ who had the balls to go in a ridiculously slow race. He also could not use his stick for the last 200m and Richard could so it must have been a very close decision by the Stipes!)

Great that the Natal trainers have done so well as it's good for racing....Cape trainers dominated the Durban season for many years.....
