I am a Liverpool fan, and will probably find very hard to ever cheer the man on again. So, yes at this point, even if it means Liverpool need to take the field without his tatent, I think the vast majority of Liverpool supporters would agree to see him move on to another club.

On the topic of legendary status, I don't think, by any stretch of the imagination, that the man is a legend. I, however, think that, alongside Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar, they're the best four footballers on show at the World Cup.

However, if someone's legendary status in the field where he/she has excelled/contributed beyond average standard, is questioned because of something he has done, said, any other questionable behaviour not related to the sport, then it has to be a travesty, and one should really look in the mirror before passing judgement.
Once again, please bear in mind that I do not condone the biting, especially the repeated offense - but I have been known to pull someone's hair, and kick a few shins in the scrum while playing club rugby many years ago.

We all think that because these guys earn hundreds of thousands of pounds, and kick a football better than most men, they are not average human beings in other aspects of life?

Is Maradona a legend of football? Yes. Is he a good role model with the alleged drug use. No.
Is Giggs a legend of football? (at least according to Man U supporters ;) ) Yes. What about the rumours of adultery not too long ago?
George Best and the drinking?
To a lesser degree, Tyson and the biting?
And my favourite one, Shane Warne? Undoudbtely a legend of cricket. Also adultery rumours not too long ago.
And that last one always landed me in an argument with my wife. The fact that he was allegedly cheating never changed the fact that he is the best leg spinner I have seen, and yet, she disliked him even more (being an Aussie was the first cross against his name) when she heard the cheating rumours.

Once again, holding sports personalities to a higher standard because they kick a football better than you is asking to be disappointed. And, most of all, the former legends did not have social media, and 50 cameras on them at all times, scrutinising their every move. They most proably weren't saints when away from the camera, and managed to get away with it - not like it is today

Another ridiculous statement...how is it not related to the sport.HE WAS ON THE PITCH playing football.
Travesty, don't make me laugh.what is wrong with you plastic scousers

We are not talking about Ryan Giggs or John Terry with their pants down or a player getting pissed in a nightclub and having a fight.

"Pele,Bobby Moore,Eusebio,Zico,Van Basten and Guillit and I can go on,they are legends. All great players who played the game in the RIGHT spirit, not this piece of trash."

You listed these guys; I listed others, who probably led more questionable lives, off the pitch! The whole point was off the pitch. They still played their respective games in the right spirit - perhaps not Tyson biting, or Maradona's "hand of God" incident, but they are all still going to be in any publication going forward, listing legends of their field.

At no point in time did I defend Suarez - That's what I said: "On the topic of legendary status, I don't think, by any stretch of the imagination, that the man is a legend. I, however, think that, alongside Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar, they're the best four footballers on show at the World Cup."
Most certainly not a plastic supporter - having supported them ever since I can remember - and really would like to see him go! Will not be able to cheer a goal scored by him.

I spoke of others simply because you listed people that probably didn't have the same scrutiny as the footballers/sports stars have today. Maybe should have had separate posts to distinguish between the two separate points I was trying to make.

Who remembers Frank Rijkaard and some other dude having a spitting fight in either a World or European cup. I think both were sent off. :-)
