In 89/90 he won the Smirnoff ahead of Senor Smith (Basil Marcus) & Jungle Rocket (Robbie Hill), with Ronald Singh up. The trifecta (R3000+-) paid for my university fees and a good few Screwdrivers at 50c a shot. (pray bring back Smirnoff, Gilbeys & Mainstay). Anyone remember when he won the 1600m (think it was the FNB 1600m), masterfully ridden by the late Gavin Howes? Could be wrong on all accounts, yet still a super horse and a Nataler as well.

P.S. Is it not ironic that 'Undertaker' reports this sad news or have I missed a trick?

I was very nearly closely involved with this fantastic horse, but that is another story, but great memories.

R.I.P. Senor. One of the legends of S.A. Racing............................he made laughing stock of the panel who omitted him from the Germiston November Handicap on the grounds that he will not stay the mile.......................he proved them wrong by winning a GR1 over the Turffontein Mile, considered then to be the toughest in the country.

Top sprinter from what I recall in my teen years with an electrifying burst. Can remember my dad catching the trifecta numerous times when he beat Harry's Echo and Bond. RIP.

Don't let this story stay in your memory.....................rather share the tale of the horse whose tail you played with.[where's the baseball bat....]

Unhappy coincidence.
The moniker was assumed many MANY years ago because I'm a fan of the wrestler.
