I think he did nothing wrong. I thought he rode exactly like he should have.......
The result in my opinion is due to the fact that Priceless Jewel is just at her best at this level up to 7 furlongs......

What he did wrong IMO:
-took her 5 wide around the turn- this cost at least a couple of lengths
- she was coming back at Butterfly Girl after being passed, so no problem with the trip
He should have saved ground round the turn, then gone for home at the top of the straight.
I know it's easy from the stands, and he is a top rider( eg the Winter Derby showed great judgement).
However, this is one that he let get away.

It's good to have differing opinions
Remember he wasn't drawn well so perhaps saving ground wasn't really an option? Also she is a handy type, she doesn't like being restrained.
That is really why I thought he did as well as he could have.

I've just watched the race again- in fact he gets her across before the turn, so my comment re 5 wide was wrong. Beaten fair and square
