The July and Woodruff - perhaps not his favourite race?

How many favourites/fancied horses did Geoff Woodruff have in the July before? How many 3 year olds and how many flops?

Yard-Arm...Dunsinaine... Eventual...Flying Duel...Superwood..Elusive Fort...Royal Air Force...Faroldmont,,,Fantastic Horse..

He only won with his older horse.. 4/5 year old El Piche..

.... saying that... granted that none of them were triple crown winners... but also LTK is not like Jackson a 116 merit rated 3 year old....

Terence, Woodruff must have as good a chance as any this year of being in the winner's enclosure. In the past he's 3 year olds may have bumped into better horses on the day. The merit ratings of the 3 year olds running in the July has always been debatable, some feel they are higher-rated than should be, in that they are too close to the older horses, whilst others have the opposite view. Whilst Jackson may have been a MR 116, remind me again where he finished last year?
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

good points but look at LTK prep... his 9th run this campaign ...doesnt looks like he was prepped for the july... more like an after thought...

Even Terrance Millard had an 11/10 lose. Apart from Yard-Arm the prices for those other horses wre easy to back. Don't understand the thread.

woody has won it twice and ran 2nd a few times including yard arm 2nd to the champ dynasty and faralmond 2nd to classic flag ...not the worst record I would say and im sure all trainers would be happy with:S

Just stimulating debate around the big day.... plisa to not start personal stuff eh? {taps baseball bat not so gently on son's head}

Also I do concur with the point about his prep runs....not ! they were full on campaigns....I love the horse but will not have my money at that price.

I think the pressure ( media attention was extreme) of winning the TC with LTK showed that that stable has serious BMT - I doubt the betting will have any bearing on him and his stable - He has trained enough Graded horses to handle any situation and I have no doubt his horses will be turned out perfectly -
