How much has this decision cost Phumelela?
The day after they stopped the pictures there was bookies showing streamed pictures
Turnover down between 8 and 10%%

It is amazing just how much streamed horse racing is available
on the internet. I now have about 30 different links covering all
Australian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Mauritius,
UK (England, Ireland, Scotland), as well as fantastic coverage
of many US and Canadian races.
If I really wanted to I could just about watch 24 hours of streamed
racing every day, and almost all of these stream feeds are a superior
broadcast to the local offering.

There are quite a number of issues which have developed from this unnecessary and destructive 'spat':
1.) It 'cured' me (after 40 years!) of betting on horses. As tempting as it might be to return I think I will leave the status quo 'as is'. I passed the 'litmus test' (The July) without even bothering to watch the race live and on the back of my smallest ever July bet.
2.) I have continued with sports betting (having special events like the World Cup helped a lot) and have continued to make profits in that field.
3.)The decrease in time spent on gambling has been positive. It gives me a lot longer to assess and re-assess my strategies and intended strikes. I may be fooling myself but 'losing days' have become markedly fewer whilst 'winning days' have increased.
Looking ahead I believe the operator may just have 'smelled the coffee' insofar as international racing is concerned :
a.) Attempting to 'own' the picture might prove fruitless in the years ahead. It appears to me that streaming may well overtake conventional broadcasting as a means of delivering 'pictures' to the betting public. This would render any controls via decoders meaningless.
b.) If I am to believe Craig Eudey's post then an attempt was made to 'paper over the turnover cracks' by providing free decoders to major players. That's a pity as it would have been interesting to see the full impact of reduced turnover by virtue of the blackout.
c.) Why the operator would deem it desireable to effectively deny all punters access to the picture whilst 'subsidising' major players is a sad indictment of the muddled thinking which seems to permeate management.
The impending restoration of the picture on Tellytrack does not necessarily mean you get to see the full races! Prior to the suspension Tellytrack habitually had studio presenters droning on about dividends and other information whilst UK races, in particular, were already underway.
Given the relative sophistication and ease of access delivered by competing betting opportunities (ie sport) my response to this development is, for now, : Thanks, But no thanks.

Garrick I don't understand why TT are so angry ATM
You would have thought they would be shouting this from the rooftops
It's good news for Petes sake
The turnover you have ruined now has a chance of returning
The extra overheads that's occurred should now flatten
And most importantly
The punter is Your paymaster and is the single most important part of horse racing, more important than any trainer, breeder, owner or presenter/ monkey or organ grinder
When you guys get the jist you might just have a chance of keeping the few 1000 punters that remain
During my lean spell I have been playing bubble witch saga2 and spend more time shooting bubbles than I do on formgrids and winning form these days
Now let's see if the damage has been done, it might be too late

We have to remember that we are talking about a mentality that gives priority to punishing a 100 or so "enemies" over satisfying 000's of paying customers!

Not a word anywhere else, the silence is almost deafening.
Will they add another "live" UK meeting tomorrow to make up
for the abandoned Kenilworth racing?

John Stuart did say back in May that Tellytrack will revert to the
"race every 10 minutes" - could it be that the new racing season that
starts on 1st August is the reason for this particular date?
