well how are they going to prove that HW would NOT have made the same amount of turnover WITHOUT that feed? I bet most of the BIG bets taken by bookmakers are on the lines or by people that walk in take a big bet and then walk out to watch at home - I think it will be VERY VERY difficult to prove that the broadcast actually was responsible for the turnover - How on earth are you going to prove that Teletrack lost revenue in that amount (R350 Mil ) as I bet most Turnover does not come from over the counter bets -

I think they got a case, but only for piracy. Bottom line is if the decoder a were seized and meant for home use only it is definitely a matter of piracy. Don't see them getting any more out of it than that.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

Now Tellytrack is going to bring racing into more disrepute
Why not just leave things as it was?
The bookies were the first people to accomodate us
When I first went to Milnerton 40years ago, there were horses and bookmakers,
And radio commentaries
No television and no fucking TELLYCRAP!!!

If they have been showing pictures commercially but only paying "private"subscription fees , they may well be entitled to the difference IMO-that could amount to a fair amount of money but R350m????I don"t think so( at Tellytrack rates that would mean a t/o figure of about 7 billion for the period)
Interesting to watch another "P" ligation play out!

And I wonder how many decoders they actually found

Possible - that's the only way they could have got a figure of R350m
