I agree with bob - Jet Jamboree has it all going for him and is my first choice, I think Shadow Line the only danger, and minor placings between Uncle Tommy, Tommy Gun, Tap Tap Makhatini and maybe Whiteline Fever (if he takes to the sand) - the rest I think can stay at home

Strictly at the weights BC could turn it around with Shadow Line, but SL won so easily that I think he will have BC's measure again - I guess we will see on the 27th

I disagree - wide draws a definite disadvantage

Strydom always comments on the severe disadvantage of a wide draw and I feel the same
Formgrids shows the best draws over 1450 are 1,2,3

I am also firmly in the Jet Jamboree camp, done everything asked of him on the surface, has a good draw and being a conditions race this year comes into the race well handicapped. Will take a good one to beat him.

GROOMS RACE CLOSES THE DAY AT EMERALD CUP

Africa’s richest horse race on sand will soon be upon us and typically the day is filled with horse racing, fun and entertainment for everyone. Sponsored by Emerald Resort & Casino the race will be run at Vaal Racecourse on the 27th September, with the ever popular groom’s race marking the last event of the day.

The Emerald Cup is an amazing day out for the entire family. Extremely popular amongst race goers are the family picnic areas, situated next to the racetrack and close to the entertainment stage where Lonehill Estate, Daniel Baron and Lloyd Cele will be performing. Included in the star line-up will be Matthew Mole and resident DJ Vin Deysel.

“Not only are the adults catered for, but the kids are too,” says Marli Wolmarans, Media and PR Manager at Emerald Resort & Casino. A cordoned off area, that contains a multitude of activities, is specifically arranged for the young ones, ensuring that they are well looked after and safe.”

As the day’s last horse race draws to a close and as tradition dictates at Emerald Cup, the infamous groom’s race will be the last event of the Cup. Run over a distance of 1600m, the groom’s race is open to all registered grooms in Gauteng, but is limited to the first 40 registering. Emerald Resort & Casino sponsors the R15 000 prize money for the first five places.

Entrance is free and gates open at 11h00. To take advantage of the picnic sites, contact 011 681 1702. The cost of R1700 for ten people is fully inclusive but excludes beverages.

Additionally VIP packages are available from Emerald Resort & Casino at a cost of R350.00pp. This includes access to the VIP air conditioned marquee, three course buffet lunch, live HD sport broadcast, access to four totes and to quench thirsts, a cash bar.

well if you remember Storm Surf from 13 draw just could not get to the fence but was fairly quick away and ended finishing under a length to Uncle Tommy drawn 2 and the stable companion HCBilly drawn 6
and then we had ATIce also drawn wide but sometimes known to lack early toe and never recovered

HILTI 10
NARC 2
NATIONAL SPIRIT 4
ALIMONY 4
PHUNYUKA 2
IRON CURTAIN 11
THE MOUSEKETEER 1
MEADOW MAGIC 2
IN A RUSH 1

Only 2 of the 9 previous winners were drawn out of the first 4 so history suggests there is a massive bias with the inside draws
