With all the negativity banded about on ABC about racing its no wonder racing does not attract new blood.
Everyday we read that this jockey pulled a horse and that trainer sent out a horse that was not fit or the bookies don't want to take a bet for ex amount the state of the racing surface is a joke, ( even pictures of the track have been posted on ABC, the food prices at the track are expensive, customer service is non existent, the totes look and smell like a rubbish tip(and these comments are made by people who have been racing for years).
Now ask yourself this. If you read or were aware of the above would you want to give racing a go

Regarding crowds,it's about time the marketing departments pulled their fingers out of their arses.
We had the same problem with the BBC,Times change quickly.Somewhere along the line, in the past 10 years, the BBC lost touch with their viewers. Despite horse racing being the second most popular sport for attendances in Britain, and a way of community life that forms part of the fabric of this country, those at the top of BBC Sport chose to ignore that fact.
This is the corporation that we pay our TV licences to and now you will NEVER see another horse race with them.A sport 2nd only to football in yearly attendances.

just say by some miracle they get hoards of genuine punters back to the tracks have they enough security to handle any nasty situations.inthe old days there were always a few punters having a go at trainers and jockeys on course.the worst incident that i can remember was brian deyes losing on the odds on favourite salmon pink, the punters were baying for his blood when he came back to the parade ring .some punters followed him in their cars and force him off to the side of the freeway, baseball bats in hand they were ready to beat the living shit out of him, luckily people stopped and were able to control the situation.play that scenerio today,sa is a more violent nation, people don't stop to help people in dangerous situations anymore.there would be more situations like that nowadays, because the stripes arenot as strict as they were in those days, people drink more because we live in more stressful time lethal combination alcohol and losing money
