I agree fully! Grabbed the 33/1.. From that draw in CM he cudnt run his race, but that ensured a 33/1 price (blessing in disguise).. A huge sigh of relief when I saw draw #3.. Big runner, at the weights, favoured track and a jock that knows him well, been some swopping and changing with jocks on the other candidates, not a fan of that esp in a big race.. Also weather permitting coz I don't thing he handles the soft at all..

As You Like backed into 10/1, someone is bringing the house down on this one....
someone is definitely not playing around but must have faith the weather holds up.. I'm definitely a punter who looks at racing conditions, which isn't as influential as in the UK perhaps but can still play a part, the 33/1 was too good not to get involved in but if soft ground is declared on the day, I'm definitely in for a cover bet! Lol..

Gilz, what are you panicking about if the going comes up soft - weight is a great leveller in racing.
maybe I'm wrong, u could be right.. But its two worst runs (in terms of lengths behind winner), 3rd behind LTK which dusnt sound bad but he was 5lengths off him that day but on good ground much better runs against LTK then 9th on good/soft (more soft in my opinion) in daily news, 9lengths off legislate.. On good ground, he hasn't run out the places and never far off, never more than 4 lengths away.. Even with a 1st run after a break.. Gotta look at the variables, yes the weight is a pro but obviously dusnt go as well on the ground either.. The contrasts between his soft and good ground form is there to see..
When you running with the big dogs, u can't piss like a puppy..

With regards the run in the Daily News 2000, it was his first time on that track and just maybe the course did not suit his style of running. Yorker finished 10th and 8th at Greyville, and that ended his KZN campaign, he won this race last year. Likewise, I wouldn't read too much into As You Like's run at Greyville.

The run in the Guineas, the second placed horse ran 5.25 lengths off the winner, LTK, and AYL was a further 0.25 off in third. So if we take from second to last in this race, AYL actually performed okay. It was bottomless that day and LTK found probably the best going on the day on the outside.

What would be interesting is to see how many top weights (say +58.0kgs) have won this race in the last 10 years.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Bouclette Top was slow into stride in the 2nd leg and hit a flat spot only getting going late
he is 1kg better off with As You Like on that run and has an in form jockey
Might not win it but will be doing its best work late

then you must decide if Khumalo was jocked off for someone they felt more suitable to how they want it ridden or was he expecting a better ride from Woodruff or do they feel that they better of with one that has not been bettered by the King which is the more likely explanation
if its the latter then his mount is the danger to the winner

yeah, I was thinking the same about greyville track, maybe he just didn't enjoy it which could be another variable to look at.. I'm just hoping for a good track in that case the "what ifs" are minimised for As You Like and he'll be right there..

I have gone for a lunatic in the form of Disco Al. My second choice is Bezanova but I have taken a decent eachway bet on Disco Al

Havent looked at this until now. very interesting opinions.

So what will Mr W be telling his jocks before the start? LTK must win? Or your mounts are so well prepared, you all have a chance?
