No power here on the Cape West Coast so I will go for a nap. Devastating for business and really feel for those being wiped out by this crooked govt.

"Load shedding will recommence again tomorrow [Saturday] and Sunday at 9am in order to build up reserves for the week ahead," it said in a statement.
It said there were a number of reasons for the cuts that began on Friday afternoon.
"The power system is extremely constrained... due to unforeseen technical problems at power stations, depleted water reserves at our peaking power stations, which use water to generate electricity, and depleted diesel reserves to fire up the open-cycle gas turbines."
Load-shedding schedules were available to Eskom's direct customers on its website. Customers could also contact their call centre for additional information.
Earlier this month, a coal storage silo at the Majuba power station in Mpumalanga collapsed, resulting in widespread power cuts. The silo held more than 10,000 tons of coal and affected coal supplies to all six units at the power station.
An investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance MP Natasha Michael said in a statement that she had heard reports on Friday that there was "another cracked coal silo at Majuba".
She said the party was concerned about what was really going on at Eskom.
"... There is no information publicly available that sheds light on what is really happening at Eskom," she said.
Michael said the DA would institute a Promotion of Access to Information Act application to compel the public enterprises department to release information on the matter.

At the beginning of the year I installed an inverter with 24 hours worth of reserve battery power for all lights and plugs. Started to think it was a bit of a waste, as outages had reduced quite a lot,but really glad to have it now! (worth every cent
get really grumpy without TV and computers
)

Sadly this was highlighted many years ago and I had privy to reports and sadly the word "preventive maintenance" does not exist in the the government's vocabulary, it's a case of rape and take.
Many good tradesmen lost jobs ......etc
Let me not go there but just say that in their statement "caused by unforseen technical hitches " made me SCREAM!

No electricity from 2 to 4 this afternoon...so didn't see any of the main races live and didn't take any bets...disguised blessing as I would have done poorly...
I see many comments critical of the state of affairs in this country and though I am no apologist for the self-inflicted ills that we, as a country, collectively have to endure, I do try to understand why things are so...
A lot of people were treated very poorly in this country and the trust deficit is so great that the majority that were on the receiving end of the past poor treatment would rather endure the current pains than the hardships of the past...a lot of people in rural areas live from day to day, meal to meal and the only life-line they have is, in their minds, provided by the government (read ANC) rather than income taxpayers...and they will continue to vote for this certainty rather than risk the uncertainty that may accompany a change of government...
Things will change in this country when the fiscus takes even greater strain and the country as a whole becomes even more gatvol...when income taxpayers see even lesser services for the contributions they make, when social grants cannot be provided for a month or two, etc, etc, etc...So, expect things to get much worse before there is even the slightest murmurings of real change...
I, like many others, am unconcerned about my own future but worry greatly about the youngsters (of all hues) of today and what they will be confronted by...they will have to contend with lesser resources than we have/had despite the seeming abundance and wastage we see every day...not one will be immune from this...we are a planet of 7 billion people competing for resources that can only sustain 3-4 billion and is exacerbated by the concentration of these resources in the hands of a very very small minority that have accumulated wealth at the expense of the majority...there will be a reckoning and, to repeat the words from The Dark Knight Rises:
"Selina Kyle: There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us."
It is not just us in SA that are in trouble...there is greater troubles fermenting on a global scale...We won't be around to see that day of reckoning but it will arrive...

Point 1. Taxes in SA are just a charitable contribution. You can do nothing about it. Accept it.
Point 2. My internet was intermittent with load shedding. Now things must really be bad when one cannot take a punt:-).
