Bob u are correct.The ratings are too high and I will explain why.
When the NHA slapped a 6 increase on the whole horse population there was an outcry and eventually it was reversed.
So the handicappers now use a new system to get the ratings up. The Creep system as I have called it. Horses keep getting penalties for places or beating the line horse. This keeps putting up the ratings as they don't come down nearly as quickly.
If you want to check this out look at horses that are competitive and u will see their rating keeps going up.No contest to argue with the handicappers, no one has ever won :S :S

im surprized nobody has mentioned yesterdays feature race in Kimberly where it was a handicap and the first 2 horses past the post were from mr spies and mr Ferraris yard so 2 horses who achieved their ratings in Gauteng or major centres..what im trying to say is a mr 90 in a major centre is definitely strionger than a mr 90 achieved in Kimberly ,,they were well clear of the rest of the field made up of local horses..how can this be fixed as a hcap is meant to give every horse a chance of winning
