I had little / no interest in horse-racing 15+ years back but when my Dad said that Horse Chestnut was running for the last time in SA, we watched !!

That says it all. Rest in peace, Oh Great One !

I feel miserable today. I told my clients I'm closed for business. I don't feel like doing anything.

I'm just grateful that he didn't shatter his leg badly in the USA so that he could live on. And I'm very glad that the syndicate got to together to bring him home.

Yes Mr. Naicker, you right .... my Mom, who's not that keen on horse-racing watched him race every time he ran.

Who can ever forget Clyde Basel's send-off ?? !!

Was it Weichong Marwing that rode Horse Chestnut ?? If so, it was the perfect combination of great breeding, great trainer, great jockey and super horse...once in a lifetime moments when everything falls into place as if pre-destined....

Rest in Peace Horse Chestnut. He was no doubt one of the best horses I have seen racing in South Africa in my life time. The J&B Met and the Derby was sensational wins. His legend will linger on, hopefully one of his offspring can bring him success like he did on the track.
