2/5 that they wont run on time, with the starting stalls playing a major part in the delay, yet again otherwise a fantastic idea.

The points raised highlights one of racing's major problems.
Even us as players get bored in between races and newcomers even more so. This reality ably demonstrates why racing could never be considered a spectator sport and why crowd attendance never translates into new customers for racing.
Unless you are a playing participant you will not get enjoyment from involvement in most instances as a lot of the excitement and discussion is around what has happened and what is about to happen.
This single topic shows the importance of directly marketing playing participation rather than a hit and hope approach through annual exposure to the few big race day offerings.
Racing could and should easily be marketed as a complementary activity to a sports lovers normal day as flicking to racing in between watching footie or rugby or whatever would strip the boredom and create relevance through a playing format.

Cracking idea! But we need people on course dedicated to helping new comers have a "playing" involvement. Still enjoy the fact that Durban in particular is trying new things to get people to the racetrack!

This has been my gripe all along .............there is a big difference between getting people to enjoy a SOCIAL day at the races and participating as a punter.
It seems to me that the operators strategy and business plan seems to somehow miss the fact that, not only should punting be encouraged, the business model is dependant on it!!!!

I hope it works because 35 and sometimes 40 minutes in between races is way to long..there shouldn't be more than 25 at the max 30 minutes in between races ..also objections need to be done quicker and any horse causing shit at the start or bursting out the pens get scratched straight away...the only downside for operators is that turnover on races every 20 minutes will take a dip

Meetings like these could be used on the holiday meetings Xmas eve etc, letting everyone involved get home quicker?

It will almost certainly not work for jockeys looking for a full card of races and as many need the income I guess its going to attract opposition from this very important quarter.

I agree, but on the flipside i think it will benefit some jockeys esp. appies that don't get
many rides as there will now be more opportunities for them to earn

Great Stuff.
I hope they add loud music when the horses come out or such like at the cricket.
Put ear pieces in the Jockey and trainers ears so we can hear what they talking about.
Put TV feed in the Stipes room like dubai and parliament

Also to save time the horses for the following race can start parading when the horses for the current race have gone down to the start.
No? Yes?
