Anyone tell me roughly how much money would have been needed to move Ford Country from 16s to 3s. And would it have to be "win" bets?

a claim would be next to nothing, but you will never know how much
Bookies lay differnt people different amounts and other bookies just lay lay lay
Plus bookies like Marshals don`t report claims
I know of bookies that lay certain clients upto R1m but then lay other clients nothing
It`s just like me trying to bet with Hills or bet365, they would lay me nothing online, but there is five shops in alloa where i could get money on, plus my mates can get money on and their mates can get money on.. before you know there is 1000`s on the horse
When the "coup" was landed at flamingo there were bookies that done the oracle

Next week a claim will be 5k at flamingo so a full claim at 16/1 would be just under £20

This explains why we have accountants and not bookmakers. When last I looked a race can only have one winner. A horse shortens from 16 to 7/2 and the favourite remains rock steady with no drifting occuring.
Peraps RiverJ aka Blondie is correct about the tote being the only outlet for taking bets. These are not bookmakers these are leeches

OTA i think the claims are out dated also, but Harris`s explanation on the other thread explains a lot
Bookmakers are the punters enemy(mean that in a kind way ) and have to protect themselves from being shot
So if there are only 2 or 3 bookies pricing up and doing the claims you can`t blaim them ?
Maybe punters should get wise and start taking bets later like we do in the uk? the early markets in the uk are just as weak as south africa`s

Not for me today .. may still winDean321 wrote: The Cleveland arms should be in front of this field. Therefore just doing a small treble with the 3 I mentioned. Not much value I know.
