DOUBLE CLUTCH will need a TRIPLE CLUTCH to run a place against some of these, while HARRY"S SON is a top horse, JAYYED ran only a neck to him... So if I understand the betting properly it basically says that DOUBLE CLUTCH will beat HARRY'S SON - I wonder what planet these punters are from...
are u saying double clutch has no chance in this race ? I think it has every chance and each time this horse runs it is often under estimated. Race time we will see which horse is where and why and and. .. personally I won't write this horse off. .

Double clutch not in the quartet unless it has a copper clutch.
Complete write of double clutch not in any calculations.

Horses for courses - winner over the 1900m(D Clutch) -
JAYEED may well win but far better horses with current form in the race - De Kock is a maestro that does not need to play games with his horses - He trains to win graded races and if he has prepped a horse to win a graded race and it does not do so repeatedly then I'd rather look at the horse than think De Kock missed something. You have a horse like Jet Explorer that has placed in open Grade 1 races De Kock that has won a Gr 2 P Arenas , WHITE LINE FEVER(trainer knows how to place a horse)etc and now a 3yr old that comes from a crop that has not produced a champion must beat them when he could not beat his own age - I hope he wins for his fans but I will back against him

Brett Crawford has made a fine start to his Champions Season campaign and has more chance of success with former Selangor Cup winner De Kock in the Betting World 1900 on Friday night at Greyville.

Crawford’s assistant trainer Barry Donnelly is taking care of the string at Summerveld and the horses have been delivered for their early Champions Season targets in fine condition.

Donnelly said, “As was the case with two of our other recent winners (Alexis and Maybe Yes), De Kock was short of match practice for his first KZN race and has come on plenty for the run.”

The 98-merit rated Dynasty gelding was a little bit keen early over 1600m at Scottsville last week, before settling into rhythm and staying on well for a 1,75 length fourth, despite carrying top-weight in the competitive MR 98 Handicap.

He showed his class as a three-year-old last season when beating the subsequent Equus Horse Of The Year Legislate by 0,4 lengths in the Selangor Cup over 1600m. He displayed a tremendous turn of foot in that race and that asset is an essential weapon at Greyville.

However, he subsequently fractured his near fore knee in the Grand Parade Cape Guineas.

He made a successful comeback from the injury last September by winning easily over 1000m. However, some felt that there was cause for alarm when he ran below par in three subsequent sprints, which included two Gr 2 events.

However, Donnelly explained, “Most top horses can win over sprint trips when coming back fresh. He won so well in that first sprint that we decided to try him again but his next two runs simply proved that he wants at least a mile. So we gelded him and brought him back (the third of the below par sprint runs in the Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes happened subsequently to the gelding).”

Donnelly confirmed that De Kock was over the injury and was sound.

He could not see the bay four-year-old gelding having a problem with the 1900m trip on Friday night and rated him as having a winning chance. On pedigree his female line is full of speed but the influence of his Vodacom Durban July-winning sire Dynasty will help him see out the trip.

He is drawn fairly well in seven in the 16 horse field and had his final breeze up on Wednesday morning.

Any takers on DYNAMIC,after a good run in the Sledgehammer, he could pop up in win here even with that draw.

Mike Azzie runs the consistent Brooks-Club in the Betting World 1900 at Greyville on Friday night and another Gauteng-based horse in the field is the Sean Tarry-trained Whiteline Fever.

Brooks-Club is only 1kg under sufferance with the two best weighted horses by official merit ratings, Jet Explorer and Killua Castle, and is well drawn in barrier four. He has been at Azzie’s Summerveld Champions Season yard since Sunday. The six-year-old Strike Smartly gelding should have no problem staying the trip having finished third in the Gr 1 SA Derby over 2450m as a three-year-old, beaten just a length by dead-heaters Pomodoro and Royal Bencher. On the downside, despite being a consistent place getter, he has only won five times in a career of 40 starts and none of these victories have been in feature races.

Azzie said, “He is a hard knocker and I expect him to be right there.”

Whiteline Fever is also a six-year-old gelding who has had exactly 40 starts. He has won seven times, including the Gr 2 Hawaii Stakes over 1400m twice. There is a perennial debate about his stamina capacity, as none of his wins have been beyond 1600m, although he was a touch unlucky when staying on strongly in the 2012 Vodacom Durban July.

Whiteline Fever is also 1kg under sufferance with the best in and Tarry said, “He has prepped well and I am confident he will stay the distance, especially at that course.”

The Right Approach gelding was due to travel down to KZN today (Thursday). Tarry would like to see Whiteline Fever being placed within striking range of the lead considering the race appears to lack pace. He was confident that Piere Strydom would be able to place him well despite a draw of nine in the sixteen horse field.

Meanwhile, Tarry’s Summerveld assistant trainer Deshone Steyn rated the yard’s three-year-old Trippi filly, In Other Words, “hard to beat” in race 8, a 1400m fillies and mares maiden on the polytrack. It will be her first time on the poly but Trippi’s progeny are known to love the surface and she has worked on the Summerveld polytrack. However, Dennis Drier rates Queen Of Thrones in this race as one of his two best runners on the night, the other being Firewood in race 4, a MR 80 Handicap over 1600m on turf.

National Champion trainer Justin Snaith faces an important weekend at Greyville as he has two runners, Dynamic and Jet Explorer, in the Betting World 1900 on Friday night and his ruling Vodacom Durban July favourite Futura then has his Champions Season pipe opener on Sunday.

Snaith believes he has now done “the groundwork” with most of his Champions Season string as they largely needed their first outings having been given breaks after the Cape Summer Season.

He said about his two 1900 contenders, “They are both in the best form they can be and have come on plenty from their last runs. I just wish Dynamic had a better draw because I would otherwise be thinking he would win it. I think he should be in the July but this could cost him his place as this is a tight track and the draw plays a big part.”

He said Futura had been doing very well, but added, “This will be a prep run and his record shows that he always seems to need his first run.”

Snaith mentioned two other weekend runners, Bianzino (Friday) and Ash Cloud (Sunday) that he thought would “run well.” His other Friday night runner, Seize The Throne, was looking a picture of health in his box and this well regarded sort should be a big runner in race 3, a MR 80 Handicap over 1600m, as he is capable of rising above his current 86 merit rating.

Lots of horses in this race have lots of excuses. Select the one who does not have excuses. Which is?

Only BALANCE SHEET with DELPECH aboard came out and won according to the last three running formlines, very average horses he beat, can't have him even at 100/1, wrong race completely for this horse!

Great race to watch, don`t think they were ever getting passed the winner tonight, hands and heels ride from Cheyne, although the runner up came from a mile back...
