GOLDEN HORN, who shot to the head of the Investec Derby betting after his impressive victory in the Betfred Dante Stakes, will be supplemented for the Epsom Classic at a cost of £75,000.
After winning the premier Derby trial at York on Thursday, trainer John Gosden said it would be up to owner Anthony Oppenheimer to decide the next move for Golden Horn, whose only Classic entry had been in the Prix du Jockey Club.
Oppenheimer, who also bred Golden Horn, had initially been keen to head to the shorter French Derby over 1m2½f with his three-year-old, thinking the colt's pedigree made him a dubious stayer for 1m4f at Epsom.
However, speaking on Saturday afternoon, Gosden said: "I had a chat with Mr Oppenheimer this morning and he very wisely wanted to see how the horse came out of the Dante.
"I'm very happy with the horse and Mr Oppenheimer is absolutely game on for supplementing. We'll monitor everything, but the plan is to run."
The majority of bookmakers reacted to the development by cutting Golden Horn, with BoyleSports and bet365 going 2-1 from 9-4 and 5-2 respectively.
Golden Horn handed out a decisive beating to stablemate Jack Hobbs and Elm Park, both 8-1 for the Derby with Ladbrokes, on the Knavesmire and his closest challenger in the market is general 6-1 chance Zawraq, who himself got the go-ahead on Friday for Epsom.

AIDAN O'BRIEN has confirmed that Ryan Moore will ride Derby gamble Giovanni Canaletto in Saturday's Investec-sponsored Epsom Classic.

Giovanni Canaletto's odds had plummeted to no bigger than 8-1 (from 16) in just 24 hours before the jockey booking was made official.
Moore also looks set to ride either Investec Oaks favourite Legatissimo or second favourite Crystal Zvezda after O'Brien added Together Forever would be partnered by his son Joseph, with Seamie Heffernan on Diamondsandrubies and Colm O'Donoghue riding Qualify.
O'Brien has booked Heffernan to ride Hans Holbein in the Derby, while Joseph will partner Kilimanjaro.
O'Brien on Giovanni Canaletto
"Giovanni Canaletto seems in good form," O'Brien told the Racing Post. "He has done only a couple of half-speeds since running second in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh nine days ago but we're happy with him and he will take his chance.
"We wanted to run him in the Chester Vase but that wasn't possible due to a slight hold-up. It isn't ideal running him back so soon, but he finished well in the Gallinule and Ryan liked him."

Didn't this Giovanni struggle to beat an old handicapping mare on his last win?

Not 100% sure but the Golden Horn colours used to be those of Sir Philip Oppenheimer, brother of Harry.
Philip had a son Anthony. You pays your money you take your choice.I think the clue is the same colours and he is referred to as a cousin of Harry.
This indicates that he may be öf some years"."
Golden Horn has done everything required to justify favouritism but I can't forget how Jack Hobbs won his race at Sandown and for an improving horse with huge scope I have taken the 7/1.

Why would the connections persist with nominating CARBON DATING?
Unless I am looking at a completely different animal CARBON DATING has had four runs:
