These bookies in SA are chicken shit. The only reason that cape hunter was fav was because it was trained by drier.2-1 into even money after the scratching and the stable did not like it at all.And the best they where giving you was 14-10 at the off.The average punter does not get stable info so how are we supposed to choose a horse in a race like this?Go with the betting that's all we can do and when the bookies open up a false fav we buggered.

The bookies also have no info on the horses obviously and just base it on reputation. Deez gets the comments pre race for punters and you have to wait till you hear them before placing bets imo or watch fluctuations in the betting rather than what price horses open up at. He got the info saying the horse wasn't rated but the fact that there was no money on for first timers at all gave it away imo.

Bi-pot fair enough, all I could say is load up and hope to catch it like today for a nice pay day. PA I wait till the last second like today and they put a combo of raced and unraced horses based on comments. I do understand it's really annoying and hopefully will be able to get these comments earlier in the future which I've been praying every night for

The only aide for punters in this type of race is to look at the breeding and the Fav was not well bred at all( Cape Teazer has yet to run a place and is a MR 49) - I must add that I put her in my PA because of the betting - Had the horse not been from that stable and with that breeding I would have passed by - Still took a hammering as I put bets on early and had the scratching (only the 7 kept me in my larger PA as I banked the 4 there)

Wasn't fit enough. Midanswer @10/1 e/w in the 7th is value. Smashed Rasta's Jet in his last start so must be value.

We need barrier trials here. You should not be able to bring a half fit horse to the course and race.

TML, nothing against you bud, but what about all the people who work and can't wait to hear the comments? Seems to me the authorities etc don't give a sh1t about these people. Full credit to Deez and others for getting comments but they are really needed two days before not two minutes before (as you imply yourself TML).

Mr H, accurate as always :) But, we all have different "strengths" and I would guess for your average punter, like me perhaps, breeding is not a strength. I try... like I did in the first race and, as Bob suggested earlier, Vinicio looked well worth a nibble. Two minutes before the off "will need the run"... looked like he would need more than one, didn't look ready at all for race day in my (not very good eye!) opinion. Big waste of money.

So, if you don't have the time or good enough knowledge regarding breeding, without early comments, you are pretty much stuffed.

My advice Durbs, just don't play these exotic bets when they include such blardy stupid "lottery" races, they will only be won with extra luck or if you are one of the priviledged few to be deemed worthy enough of getting (good and accurate) "whisper" info. If you have to play, for fun/interest, then I would brass the fav in these races (unless Mr H has commented regarding the breeding of one or other ;) ) and hope it happens and you pick up a decent return.

Transparency and honesty... still seems to be too much to ask for.

You don't have much luck with that horse Shrek, thought you were coming to win it again for a minute but, in the end, have to settle for place, again. Well done on that anyway and looked a better effort at least :)

The thing i don't understand is that the tote don't care who wins be it an odds on shot or a massive outsider they are still getting their 25%.Why doesn't tabgold get info for the punters? We all happy when we win so we bet more and therefore more money for tabgold or phumelela. We win we put more money in,we lose too much we stop playing.Surely it's a win win situation for eveyone. But i'm sure the bookies will have something to say about it cause they love it when the punter hasn't got a clue.
