The hcapper can only 'kill' them in hcps. Every single exported horse has had their rating go up by more than a dozen points on ave every time.

And logic would dictate that for every horse the hcapper 'kills', he consequently 'lets' another win.

Sylvester,

Art Of War ran 5th in the KZN Guineas beaten 3.50 lengths.

Immediately behind him (at level weights mind you) ran:
Thandolwami(95)
Hamlool(96)
Profit Report(96)
Galaxy(98)

It's impossible to critic the handiccaper here.

Otherwise if you were to handicap the next 3yo hcp (say in preperation for the July) what weight would YOU give Art Of War?

Cleary he cannot carry LESS than the horses he beat?? There is a perfect line of horses rated within a pound running 3.50, 3.55, 3.80, 3.85 Not to mention Russian Sage (106) 1.75 lengths in front of them and 8/1 joint 2nd fav for the July.

Perfect Season beat Art Of War 0.50 and will have to give him 1kg over a mile should they meet soon (in a hcp, that is), and theoretically the kilo is worth a length.

Sly,

The entire point of handicapping is to adjust the weights in such a way that the next time horses meet in a handicapped race, they should run a dead-heat.

And we keep score with a rating based on 'merit' which is the winning margins expressed with weight.

That's it in a nustshell.

Bastardized systems are beyond me I'm afraid.
