Everytime there is a groom race in SA the crowds(families come out to support) are bigger and better.. tells you that there is an interest in racing

I think south African racing is really good Bob. I look every morning before work & bet on South African races more than any. Great stuff

Think Lerena might be riding with an extra edge today and his "norm" has been plenty good enough so far this season. In the challenge races he also has a distinct advantage in knowing the track better than most he will be competing against. Could have a big day and I would include all his rides
R2 King's Fire to beat Baseball Hattie
R3 With the Sham's advising Cervantes may possibly need it, Wow Holiday could be the right one, down in d and on the turf, Lerena up. Draw the concern. Louche and Woodstock Express thereabouts.
R4 Plenty in with a shout, slight preference for Al Don Cumarco.
R5 Pipette loks the right one but I will also be doing an e/w on stablemate Thrill Factor who is better than lto imo and has Lerena up
R6 Thayer won with plenty in hand lto and showed enough improvement on the two runs "against" Skrik Vir Niks to be the one to beat for me. My bet though will be an e/w, again sifing with Lerena and War Trail. Looking at the penultimate rather than lto when poorly drawn makes WT value for me. R1 e/w Sudden Surprise.
R7 The consistent Turnstone from Jay's Man. At 20s Briar King worth a couple of rand e/w, could appreciate the drop in trip and has the 1 box to help.
R8 Lerena e/w again for me with Jay Radical. Could beat stable companion Soleil Royal whose hefty weight may see him beaten in the finish. Emblem Honour a nagger and could well steal it, Simmering a small e/w if the price permits.
R9 Jam Tart my somewhat reluctant selection, has plenty to prove for me but nothing else I could feel confident about either. La Myst a small e/w if the price permits.
Be(s)t of luck to all

That ride was sheer class, if that's anything to go by our jocks will get outclassed to whole day, made Lerena look like an amateur. Thank goodness they didn't put any internationals on any favourites

At least they are trying to make it fair and more competitive by putting the overseas jockeys on some roughies..That was a thrilling finish..

Think they should retire Flightofthefalcon now though, it has no chance outside of maiden company unless they keep importing the jockeys. CnC must be loving this
