'Objective' analysis ..... B)

1) French Navy - Good last prep, still needs to find a few lengths on Power King on the July form - could place, but for me has a lot to do to win it at the weights

2) Power King - apparently travelling up from KZN on Friday morning; a lot will depend on how he takes the trip, does seem to hold French Navy on the July run, but for me always a worry when travelling to Gauteng is involved - could win or run last

3)Flying the Flag - not a great local debut, but could improve a lot over the trip; only positives for me is his trainer and his jock - I prefer others

4) Judicial - I think he is overrated at 105 - worst draw - very poor last run, would need it soft to squeeze into the top half of the field imo

5) Master Sabina - has lots in his favor, trainer has an excellent record in this race, current champion jock, fair draw and fair prep run, I think he will be in the top 4

6) Halve the Deficit - has often disappointed, for me better over slightly shorter and needs to jump on terms - not for me

7) Yer-Maan - not the worst outsider to throw into quartets - should get a strong pace that he needs - still I think unlikely to win

8) Mac de Lago - looks well handicapped - should not be much between him and French Navy at the weights - draw an obvious negative, but not to be ignored

9) Easy Lover - great prep - tries the 2000 for the first time, but ran on really well in the Victory Moon - another not to be ignored

10) Deo Juvente - track suited, poor draw might see him struggle to finish in front of Easy Lover again - but should finish in the first half of the field

11) ML Jet - One of the likely pace setters - not far behind Mac de Lago in the Daily News - not sure he gets the 2000 - but could place if allowed to set his own pace

12) Ultimate Dollar - looks held by both St Tropez and stable mate Dynamic on the July Consolation run - wide draw an added disadvantage, has lots to do imo

13) Disco Al - very good prep and holds St Tropez on that, but definitely prefers further and had a slight hiccup in his prep - should benefit from a strong pace

14) Dynamic - real value at his current price to finish in the top 4, well handicapped and if he can put that last run behind him (finished in the first 4 in 13 of his 16 starts), can feature at a big price

15) Diesel Jet - ran to 101 on my ratings and was not stopping when disposing of his field over 1800 last time - will probably be setting the pace with ML Jet and must have a good chance of a first 4 finish imo

16) St Tropez - was my early selection at Ante-Post odds - still realistically priced, draw a negative, but should not miss the first 4 imo

17) The Captain's Tune - draw the only thing in his favor (apart from his trainer) and not for me

18) Ahlaam - seems held by a few here

19) The Centenary - on the up - still has something to find to feature imo

20) Platinum Jet - out at the weights and seems held by Easy Lover - could sneak into the top 4 if others run below par
