Not fair at all - I was at the Vaal Racecourse one day and lightning struck just above the stands. I remember people hiding under tables (I was close to a bomb going off in the 80's and believe me it was just as loud) Also If I recall a cameraman at the Vaal was injured when the tower he was standing on got struck. I personally would never even walk out on a flat surface when lightning is about let alone get on a horse that can spook and kill itself or me. We must always remember Jockeys have families and cannot risk their lives just to make deadlines.
