Not overly confident on anything today, however here's how I see some of the races :-
R1) The apprentice claim of 2.5 negates the 3.0kg pull by Mygirldownunder, and being a winner must hold sway against the debutant. Whilst it doesn't take rockets to move a first timer, I would respect the money that has come for MGDU because the facts are there for all to see, yet someone is prepared to take the favorite on. If any further follow through at race time, then MGDU could be the right one.
R2) The only things that could lead to Cosmic Burst's downfall is the draw and possibly the going. It could be rock hard today. If overcoming these issues, I think this horse will be hard to beat.
R3) Does look like a boat race between Natal and Bunker Bill. If the merit rating of Natal is correct, then he'd be hard to beat, coupled with the fact that Bunker Bill last ran in November and may need the run.
R4) If Joan Ranger has travelled well, then she is the one to beat. She has run to stronger, admittedly over slightly further, but the Scottsville sprints up the straight is a tough test and horses that go okay beyond the 1200m do okay. Gives the impression that she could race handy and stay there. If she is to be beat, then choose a number.
R5) Canigao is going through the division's like a smart sort. If taking to the turf, despite a wide draw, he may still be the one they all have to beat.
R6) Mater Familias could be better than rated and the one they all have to beat.
R7) Reactive will not bump a weaker field than this ever again.
R8) Would love to see Dark Rose win for fellow Clan member, Shrek, if not to be, Madame Le Roi could be in with a shout.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

26th Feb : Shogun and Destined for Dawn
Destined for Dawn (5/2) returns to Scottsville for another crack at stakes earnings this afternoon going 1400m on the outside track against Reactive (8/10F), this being their 3rd clash in the past 6 weeks. At this stage it does appear that D4D may be best suited to shorter but he drew very badly in the next available 1200m (the only one left this month) so we have opted to take on what appears to be very weak opposition today over the 14. He still jumps from a bad draw but at least there’s time to get a position whilst on the back stretch at Scottsville. According to the connections, Reactive is better suited to the grass and will be more effective over this trip and he has a better draw so it’s going to be an interesting contest. They have both beaten each other previously however Reactive’s victory over D4D rings hollow as he was in the far superior going on that occasion and D4D subsequently settled the score without dispute 9 days ago (pictured). There’s also the short period between races to factor in which may/may not effect the many horses in this race (incl D4D & Reactive) that have raced in the past week or so. And then there’s the heat.. all 36 degrees! of it predicted to run riot this afternoon by the weather bureau. Fortunately the race is scheduled for 16h40 when it should have cooled a bit but the float ride will still be in the peak of the boil.
26th Feb. Fair conditions this time on the poly - Shogun and D4D reverse the form with Reactive
24th Jan. Reactive gets the benefit of the better track conditions on the inside and thrashes Shogun and D4D
