GREYVILLE POLY, 29/04

Heads-up, Shreya's Star in the 3rd, opened 6/1, now H/Wood 9/2 and B/World 7/2, this horse should not miss.

Just to continue what I started because of the shortening of the price, two others I fancy are :-

R5 - Strategic Move, you can put a line through the third last run, just one of those unexplained runs, actually started joint favourite, last two runs were against stronger and were fair efforts. With the apprentice allowance she comes into the race carrying bottom weight, I think she is a runner.

R7 - if my understanding of the race conditions is correct, then Canigao could represent the best bet for 2016 thus far. The conditions state, " for horses with net rating of 80 and below". If his nett rating is 80 and his MR 87, then surely Canigao is slung in - am I correct or not? Thanks in advance.

In Race 6 Lavender Landscape is an interesting runner. His last few runs have been poor but has been better on the Vaal sand. He had a 97 Sand rating and running off a 65 here. Lyle takes another 2,5 kg's off his back. This is his 3rd run after a rest and should strip a fitter horse now. Hopefully will be able to get the lead as there are other front runners in the race. The 12/1 offered earlier by WSB and Hollywood were very generous. Could be hit and miss but worth a punt IMO.

If we want to talk about horses being slung in at the weights surely Roman Carnival off a 106 sand rating would be the one. My concern is that the 1900 could be a touch to far but I expect him to still give Canigao a massive run for his money.

That's exactly how I read the conditions, I see the 15/10 is gone. I'll be interested to read Pirates comments.

@ Rowdy, I think Canigao has been adjusted into 13/10 because of the scratching of Leeuloop Jet, there is 10% deduction. Having said that Canigao is the one they looking for on Interbet, so the 13/10 may not last much longer.

being a 3yo caniago gets a 7 pound wfa allowance so his gross rating is 87 and you minus 7 pounds and hence you get the net rating of 80...the middle stakes is a new type of race introduced into the race program whereby the weights are structured in bands of merit ratings so its not a true handicap in the true sense of the word ...horses with a net rating between 76 to 80 carry 60kg..between71 to 75 58kg ..66 to 70 56kg 61 to 65 54kg 56 to 60 52kg 55 and below 50kg ...hope that helps

If you quick enough, Canigao, there is still 13/10 available at H/wood, horse is 9/10 elsewhere.
