Bob, i am not disagreeing with you, just stating that once again the problem ends up at the owner's door. The absolute inability of the role players in this industry to develop operating procedures that are progressive & objective instead of subjective & reactive really boggles my mind.

Dear Owner;
1. Pay for this horse
2. Pay 9 months keep & training before it runs
3. Pay your Vet bills which have over inflated medicine prices which nobody does anything about.
4. Pay for your horse when it has vaccines
5. Pay to register your colours
6. Pay for the authority to act
7. Pay to be a member of Gold Circle (in KZN) or you have no badge or area that caters for you specifically as an owner. You may pick up a paper badge at the race day office if you want to go into the parade ring but if you become a member of GC without owning a horse you get more privileges. (Phumelela has the RA which has win incentives i believe.
8. Problem with the race tracks, don't worry nobody engages with you...
9. Any problems arise with grooms then pay more
10. Dear Owner, please do not look at owning horses as an investment, after all you are paying because you love the race horse oh and don't worry the jockeys will take care of the punting via their punters.

Anyone thinking of buying a race horse needs their head read.

I have to ask myself why am i such a sucker for punishment?????????????????????

Bob I am with TS and the owners here

Ultimately any agreements struck lands up costing the owner as trainers will merely pass on costs. Who is negotiating and how are owners interests being protected?

Agree with Tiger. The owner seems accountable for everything. Do owners receive a part refund for buying a lemon? Hail the owner.
