Race 4 – Whisky Baron 2/1

My best bet of the day. Unbeaten since gelding and his performances keep getting more impressive. Was slow a length on his last start and I loved the way he cruised to the front of a slow pace. He oozes class and I really think he’ll win this before putting up a terrific show in the SunMet. Not my fav jock but he knows the horse now and that will be key.

I see It’s My Turn and Macduff as the dangers. IMY is held by WB although that was over 1500 and on the old course so nothing to get too excited over. However, with the 1 kg pull I fancy WB to easily hold It’s My Turn. Macduff has another weight pull over WB on their last meeting but really WB wasn’t extended and was always going away from him.

Race 5 – Horizon 2/1, Ollivander 16/1

Horizon should be the one to beat here. Excellent performance LTO against older horses. Carried the same weight as Fifty Cents who runs in the big one later on so definitely merit in that showing. Bundles of improvement to come as it’s only his 5th start. Has earned the right to carry that weight and still go very close here. Trip should be no problem.

I’ve also done a small e/w on Ollivander who’s a horse I’ve been following. He will love this trip and had Macduff behind him LTO so I think he’s up to this class.
I do rate Newlands but he disappointed last start and must show more before I can back him again.

LQPMarinaresco – will probably drift out to 2/1, 5/2 raceday

All about GvN’s positioning and whether he can reel the Eagle in before the winning post. Don’t be surprised if GvN goes up handy…

He was not 100% fit for the Green Point. He had a dirty trach wash the week prior and they went soft on him and for him to run like that was amazing IMO. I have no doubt he will be at his peak for this race.
In saying that, he has a lot against him here. Drawn 10/11, the mile is not his best distance. It is too short. But he is a special horse and special horses find a way to win. He has the best turn of foot in the country bar none and if he gets there, he gets there, If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. Simple as.
Pace doesn’t worry me. Slow pace, fast pace. He can do both as shown. He just needs some luck in running and he will fly like the wind at them.
May the best horse win.

I agree on Horizon - will probably start odds on - ran way above a 91 last time after having to check - best bet at current odds for tomorrow imo

Not so sure about Whisky Bravo - has it all to do at the weights - so I think an upset not impossible here

QP a 2 horse race - tactics and luck and running to play it's part - Marcus will probably get first run again - with the headwind not impossible that Marinaresco can mow him down; for the adventurous I think Abashiri will run 3rd ....

The Paddock Stakes will show the relative worth of the 3 yr old fillies against their elders - I just have a feeling that Safe Harbour may be good enough - but it won't be easy against Bela Bela and even maybe Silver Mountain if she gets the trip

The other races look tough - She's a Giver looks the right one in the 9th - however not so sure that she can win this start to finish with a headwind though

In the 2nd, I would be interested in Little Theresa.
Maybe a fixed place onto Horizon to win. I got 9/2 earlier.
WSB actually had Little Theresa priced at 10/1 earlier (15/10 place). Now 9/2

Bela Bela never won against colts in her Classic year ... Safe Harbour beat some highly regarded colts in that sales race( Zodiac Ruler, Africa Rising Sgt Hardy, Always In Charge etc)... I think the distaff youngsters are pure class -- (both features today won by them... one over ground) nothing wrong with Sail and Final Judgment either.

Newlands may be the one to back
Big fan of Bela and Its My Turn but seems like although the yard is taking a turn for the better , his feature horses look to have been a bit behind on "battle readiness"?
Going for Chevauchee to upset. And whiskey baron to continue his good form.
Legal eagle has not much to prove and will win at best but due a bad one? The Conglomerate has surprised before and Captain America occasionally puts in an awesome effort.
Best of luck to all in picking the right ones.

While you're spot on Mr H, Bela-Bela only took on colts once - In the July so she's forgiven. Safe Harbour, while she beat the boys, beat okay but not top colts...Sgt Hardy is very good but not a 1400 horse. Always in Charge was unproven over the trip. Africa Rising failed again next time out too so while impressive, not a huge achievement IMO.

For me, Bela-Bela should win but I would never write off Silver Mountain, ever.
