For me there is no doubt the horse with the most potential is the 3yr old Gold Standard - I gave him no chance in the MET, but he ended up running to around 113 on my ratings - this is way above any other 3 yr old imo B)

Whisky Baron - yes he has improved, so there may still me more improvement to come, but let's not forget he received 2,5 kgs from Legal Eagle

Trip to Heaven probably the best sprinter currently in SA - even the 1000 no problem if he can just manage to not lose as much ground at the start - in big fields there is alway the danger of not finding a clear run when it matters

Jo's Bond put up two good performance's over 1000m, pity there is no Grade 1 or Grade 2 1000m feature races in the KZN season.

PeterD, has already pointed out Final Judgment. Can run in the Umzimkhulu Stakes for 3yos in April followed by the KZN Fillies Guineas in May, the Tibouchina Stakes in June and the Garden Province in July. All these races are at Greyville, the Umzimkhulu and Tibouchina is over 1400m and she could prove hard to beat with the short straight. Sail is another that could surprise albeit below par performances in the features she contested. She will be back in her home turf and will contest the same races as Final Judgement.

I wonder if Legal Eagle will give KZN a miss again this season? He has the gr 1 over a mile at Clairwood(now Greyville) at his mercy.I think that the Snaith horse Kasimir looks very good, but being a 2yr old who knows how many good 2yr olds we have not seen race yet.

not worth the risk if the track isn't right, think legal eagles form says it all
targeted certain races maybe try and get him overseas

He would only need to win the classic and the derby to complete the triple crown, but i don't think he would stay the derby distance being out of Captain Al.They would not risk him.Klawervlei would want him as a sire to continue the Captain Al line, seeing as Capt AL is getting on in years and he has been a wonderful sire for the stud as witnessesed on met day with all the winners he sired on the day.

Chris van Buuren wrote: I think Nightingale will acquit herself with honor during the champions season in KZN. She is a very good filly

.....never really rated this filly until her run in the Paddock Stakes.....she was severely interfered with by the winner and almost got checked out of the race....then made up so much ground flying at the finish.....text book ride on Saturday and found the outside run like she did on her run before and was duly rewarded.....just a pity that in the big race the grey flying filly was not ridden in a similar fashion.....the going might have been better on the inside... but with no company and no cover.... a run best ignored..... ;)
