No idea why it always takes so long .. PS basically said the meeting would be over after he won on F fella... the only thing to do when this happens is to have an open vote by the jocks - if they deem it unsafe they cannot ever be forced to ride so why waste time with panels etc...

How many times have we spoken about this Rob? Damn.....ensuring that racing goes ahead till the 2nd leg of the jpt has run and they take their full 25% on all exotics! Makes me cringe.......

That occurred to me too Bob ......if the Primma Donna's don't want to ride ,I bet some of the battlers would be delighted to take those good rides and battle on!!!....but I bet that is not allowed!

There was a guy some years ago who wrote an article with all the figures and what the impact partially abandoned exotics had on value (tote returns vs punter returns)
It was eye opening - and weather is fortuitous so why should the punter bear the total burden....it should surely be shared .....we have to keep in mind that the tote is merely a facilitator and the take-out is a "fee",so payment should be proportionate to service provided!

In this case the 2nd leg of the JP has NOT run .... according to Nico's statement on TT, the 'other' representatives (including those from Phumela) were of the opinion that conditions were not 'unsafe' and that racing could continue - the jocks on the panel thought it was 'unsafe' and then had a pow-wow with all the other jocks and then all the jocks unanimously decided to call it off - now difficult to tell from a distance who is 'right' - as mentioned the 'P' representatives would most likely have wanted one more race (2nd leg of the JP) to take place in order to claim 25% of the JP pool. We will never know just how 'democratic' the jocks decision was - it is quite wet, but as many suggest, not 'dangerous', at worst 'unsafe' ? The fact is though that they have the only say as they can't be forced to ride - so as Mr H says, a lot of time wasted with the panel inspection, etc.
The takeout situation however is blatantly just greed - not sure how this can be rectified - does a punter need to take court action ?

The panel constituted of trainers; Nha; Vet; Phm track managers and jockeys. The top 4 agreed it was safe to continue but the jocks said no.
