I have no problem with a small field but just hope that the 2 main yards have pacemakers in the race and it is a true run race as they have had an oppurtunity of supplementing pacemakers...saftote on the other hand wont be happy

There just aren't many top colts around this year: Of the top rated:
Gold Standard- recuperating
William Longsword - to stud, but not sure to go further than a mile
Sergeant Hardy - sprinter
Always in Charge- won't see out the trip
Table Bay- doesn't seem to stay
Edict of Nantes- tough Cape Season
And not much else rated high enough to have much chance with the top few entered.
Have to wait and see what else comes through the ranks in the next few months.

Could have been more entries especially from the Cape owners & trainers, obviously too much money down there and they don't need the cash.
No way Snaith can win any trainers title again without trying to raid these races in JHB.
Still a strong line-up though with De Kock and Tarry horses.

I'm craven can be added to this list but I haven't seen him out in a while either. Hope he isn't lost to SA.
